THESEVENTEEN-year-old boy's breathing wavered as he wailed in embarrassment and humiliation, his chest feeling knotted. His glasses were fogged as tears pooled in his eyes, his thumb scrolling through the horrid, cruel comments left on a post; a video of himself getting beaten to a pulp. He thought Seoul would be different, yet he was wrong.
So horribly wrong.
A notification then popped up on his screen, momentarily distracting him from his dilemma.
The boy, Daniel Park, held his breath as he clicked into the said, 00:00AM, app. He knew perfectly well that this app was technically illegal, having streaming access to various shows and movies for free, a pirating site.
And the show, Inquires of Death & Regret, was his all-time favorite series out of those he'd seen. The series delved deeply into all kinds of societal issues and stigma regarding many different topics. He heavily related to the main character, well, in some ways.
The main character of the show was a non-binary teenager his age, having faced harsh bullying and assault repeatedly. Though, there was a lot more to the storyline and their past. There were also awesome action scenes where the mc kicked everyone's asses in order to protect those they cared for!
There was also a really sketchy yandere following the mc around... Oh! But it was a comedy show...kinda.... so it was fine!
Then there was that weird sense of adrenaline he got when one of the characters would make ominous comments about something they'd read, something that hit a little too close to home. Like in one scene, Cupid sauntered over to his hunched-over classmate's figure, his hands roughly crashing down on the table, catching the previously sleeping boys' attention. "We need to do something about (n/n)'s Webtoon addiction."
