Taylor's POV:
We're back in New York now. We've been in New York for about two hours or so.
The twins were so good on the plane even though they were terrified since they'd never flown before. Joe and I sat facing them since the chairs in my private jet can turn around. I've never seen anyone look so scared before and my heart broke for my siblings. They had their eyes closed during takeoff and were hugging each other so tightly I was sure they were going to suffocate each other. I could barely get them to open their eyes to look out the window once we were steady in the air.
Archer and Lexie looked so happy to be off the plane until they saw the paparazzi. That was when I felt my heart quite literally stop. The paparazzi were the one thing I didn't consider.
My siblings looked petrified so I kneeled to their level, looked them in the eye, and said, "Hold my hand and Joe's hand, and most importantly each other's hands, and please don't let go. And keep your heads down."
They nodded their cute little heads and Lexie immediately death gripped my hand like she was hanging off a cliff and I was her last chance at survival. Archer appeared to do the same with Joe's hand.
My security pushed the paparazzi back as they bombarded us with questions. "Who are the kids?" "Why are they with you?" "Are they your secret children?" "How we've never seen them before?" "Tell us their names!" "Taylor do you have any comments on Kim Kardashian's post about you?" "When's the next album coming out?" Some paparazzi tried to go around Joe and me from behind to grab Lexie to get a better look at her and I snapped and said "Don't touch them." My siblings almost looked more scared of me than they did of the obnoxious paparazzi.
I will never forget those ten minutes. I won't forget the looks on the twin's faces. The way their hands shook even while holding mine and Joe's and of course each others. How relieved they looked to be in the car away from the noise and the people trying to grab them to get a better look at them. This will be burned in my mind forever.
But right now, I'm out shopping with my family.
Archer and Lexie are holding hands as they skip their way into stores while Joe and I smile at them. I pull my phone out and video them and take a few pictures. God, I'm already acting like a mom.
We're in a store looking at paint colors for the twins' shared room since they made it quite clear on the drive over that they will be sharing a room. At least for now. They'll probably be in their own rooms by the time school starts.
"I want the room to be turquoise like the ocean!" says Lexie. "No way! Forest green looks nicer! And the ocean isn't turquoise!" argues Archer. "No, it does not! And yes it is!" says Lexie, crossing her arms. "Does too! And it is not!" says Archer crossing his arms as well. "Does not! And yes it is!" says Lexie sticking her tongue out at her brother. It's my first full day with them and they're already fighting.
"Fine! Yellow then!" says Lexie, pointing to pineapple yellow. "Orange!" says Archer pointing to tiger orange. Joe and I facepalm ourselves. "Yellow is the same color as the sun and the sun is very pretty," says Lexie. "Tigers are cooler than the sun! You can't even look at it without getting blinded!" says Archer.
"How about we walk around and you two can pick out some other things and we'll revisit it this?" I say wearily. They both flinch and quickly mumble excuses for their small fight and then say "Sorry."
I'm pinching my arm to keep from crying when I see how terrified they are of getting hurt. "I'm not going to hurt you. I promise," I say. "I won't either. I promise," says Joe. The twins relax a little and we bring them to go find chairs and desks for their room.
