"You must have not heard me, Draco." Father yelled.

"I heard you very clearly, father." I said.

"You will not talk to me that way." Father said before he came closer to me and slapped my face, "You and Aster will become death eaters just like us and her parents. Whether you like it or not."

I grabbed Aster's hand and ran out of the house before he had a chance to hit her, slamming the door behind us.

September 1st,

It was today, four years ago that we first walked into Hogwarts, merely eleven years old, now we are sixteen. Aster is at the top of all of our classes. She's even able to control her ability. Mind control. Over the years father has become more strict and is trying to force us to become death eaters like them. I've been able to shield Aster from it for the most part but with her being able to read minds, she knows most of what's going on. I purposely don't shield my mind from her, she likes to know what's going on, it makes her feel safe. For the most part I don't close my mind off, unless I'm writing, that's the only time I shield.

"Can you believe it, Aster?" Crabbe asked, "Exactly four years ago, we were first years, sitting on this train, in the exact same seats."

"I know right!" Aster giggled, "So many memories, engraved into Hogwarts."

"What about you, Draco?" Goyle asked, "You excited to be a Fifth year?"

I was staring out the window, my chin resting on my hand, thinking about the fight I had with father.

"Draco?" Crabbe said.

"Aster, read his mind." Goyle laughed.

"She already is." I said without moving. And I was right, she's been able to do it since she was little, only now has she been able to control it. She can even send little messages to other people's minds.

"Are you okay?" She thought.

"I'm fine, Aster." I thought.

"You know you don't have to, right?" She sent.

"You don't get it Aster, you'll never fully get it." I thought, "All of my family have been death eaters. I don't have a choice."

"Yes you do Draco. You always have a choice. It's not their life, it's yours. You could run away."

"Come on guys." Crabbe said. "Quit talking to each other through your minds. Talk to us out loud."

"Shut up for a little." I snapped.

"No Aster, I couldn't. Even if I did, where would I go? With what money? If I don't do this, I'll be an outcast, left with nothing and always running from death eaters."

"You know how much money my parents left me. There's enough to get us both through school and live comfortably with four more people." She thought.

"Us?" I couldn't help but question.

"Us." she replied.

"Is this your way of admitting you like me, Aster?" I laughed out loud.

"Oooooo, Aster has a crush on Draco." Crabbe and Goyle laughed,

"So what if I do?" She laughed.

"That would be weird, y'all are like siblings. Hell you guys live together." Crabbe said.

"One, you're just mad I'm not totally in love with you. Two, we aren't siblings in any way, we just live together which would make it so much easier. I could see him whenever I wanted. Cuddle up next to him in the middle of the night." Aster said as she moved up closer and started being all over me in a joking way.
