June 12th,

My Hogwarts acceptance letter arrived today. Mother's face lit up as she gathered the mail from Dobby. Though she frowned a bit when she saw that Aster's didn't arrive. Not sure why though, hers will be arriving on the 14th since she was born two days after me. Father couldn't care less. I can see the shame in his eyes, even though I have been nothing but an excellent child. Even though he says rude things to and about Aster, I can tell she is the child he always wanted. Something has to change, he is my father. Something will change, I will always love her, but he's my father, not hers.

"Oh good!" Mother cheered, "Aster's letter arrived."

"It does say I got accepted right?" Aster asked.

"If you weren't accepted you wouldn't have a letter." I answered as I took a seat in the sitting room by the fire.

"Draco be nice." Mother said.

Mother took a seat on the couch, Aster took a seat by mothers feet. I looked at Aster, what I had just said hurt her a little bit. As I looked at father he laughed a bit to himself. I'm so confused.

"No need to worry dear. You are the heir of Slytherin. Great granddaughter of slytherin. There was no way you wouldn't be accepted nor is there a way you wouldn't be placed in Slytherin like the rest of us." Mother reassured.

Father laughed as he continued to read the morning paper, "And if you aren't, you can find another place to live. This is a house for pure blood slytherins only."

Surely he didn't mean that, right? What am I thinking, it's father, of course he meant that. I can see the way Aster feels, she doesn't think she belongs here. I would feel the same if my parents were killed in cold blood like hers. Our parents were best friends, after her parents had passed, everything they owned had gone to my parents. They made a fortune off of Aster's house. Mother made sure that she was able to get to see it and take whatever she wanted before they sold it. We could have afforded to keep it but it was a standing reminder that my parents best friends were dead and Aster's parents were dead.

September 1st,

Today we said our goodbyes as it was the first day of school. Father had reminded Aster of his no slytherin rule. She tried so hard not to cry during that moment. I wish he wasn't mean to her, I could have done something, I could have stood up to him, told him not to speak to her that way, but I didn't, in that moment as she almost shed a tear, I couldn't move. I wanted to say something, to hug her, to do anything but stand there like I didn't care. Like a coward.

"As I have said, we will find out if you aren't a true slytherin, and if you aren't, you better make friends with your house because you will not be living with us pure bloods." Father said.

How could he be so rude to her? It isn't her fault her parents died.

We got on the train, I set my stuff away and sat with two boys our age, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle.

"Aster." I called out. "You may sit with us." She put her phone and some other things that I couldn't see into her bag and sat next to me. "Crabbe, Goyle, this is Aster."

"Draco, your sister is super hot." Goyle said softly.

Gross, how could he say something like that.

"She's not my sister and don't even think about liking her, she's off limits." I answered, glaring at Goyle. What he had said infuriated me.

"Off limits?" Aster laughed, "You don't own me Draco."

She has a fierce side, it's cute when she gets mad, I couldn't hide my face from blushing a bit. "I didn't mean it like that, Aster. I only meant that seeing how my parents took you in, I now have to make sure you don't make a fool of them. The Malfoy family is very powerful, we don't need you messing that up."
