The gang made their way through the broken city and into the woods. The afternoon sun was brightly lit with no cloud covering it.

They had taken the Eddsworld crew's Jeep and made their way up the mountain. After some climbing, they finally got to the cabin in the woods.

Tord and Lars got to work to make a plan while the rest were walking around and talking or seeking comfort from their pets.

Matt and Mark were sitting in the rooms and looking outside a window. Sunlight seeped through the thick forest cover. It made the entire forest pretty shady and cool.

It posed a problem to Tord and Lars, who needed direct sunlight to fall into the room. They came to the rest with a proposal.

"We have to clear that section," Tord said, pointing to a patch of branches in the trees, "It will clear the way for the sunlight."

"We must do it quick though, if we need to catch the sunlight the brightest." Lars finished.

Soon, everyone got to work in fitting the mirrors and cutting the branches. It was a hard process...

For example, Edd had to drive back into the city to get a saw. Not only that, but he had to find something to cut the mirrors too.

Edd did find some manual saws, but nothing to cut the mirrors. He gathered all the pointy objects he could find that he thought would be able to break the mirrors. He then set off for the cabin.

They weren't able to use an electric saw as electricity wasn't working. They had to stick to the plain saw which made working to cut the branches extremely hard.

Most of them got tired within 5 minutes of trying to cut through the branch. With the collective effort, the branches were finally cut and sunlight was able to pass through the trees and enter the room.

Tord and Lars were busy trying to figure out a way to get the mirrors in place. Matt was awfully quiet the entire time. Kept on giving the cabin side glances.

"How are we gonna make them come out in the day?"

Work stopped. The place fell silent again. Ringo and Riley stopped playing to see why everything was quiet.

No one had even thought about figuring out a way to get them out during the day. Mark let go of the wood he was moving and dusted his hands.

"That's our job, Matt." He answered.

"We don't exactly need the mirrors to be honest... The sunlight seems to be directly coming into the room." Lars commented.

"As for getting them out..." Tord continued, "Can you not push them out? The way they push you in?"

"They're really powerful..." Matt replied.

"What if we trick them into thinking it's night?!" Tom beamed.

"Good idea... But we'll need a LOT more things for that... Which is fine, but I don't think we'll have time..." Tord said.

Everyone looked into the horizen, the sun was getting low, in an hour or two, it would become pretty dark.

"We won't have time today..." Edwardo said hopelessly. His voice sounded drained of energy. He put down the saw and looked at the rest.

Riley, who was playing with Ringo, had walked to his side and started nudging Edwardo with his nose. Ringo sat down where she was and looked at the group too.

"Look, we can't just sit and feel sad about it... You guys need to hide before it's too late!" Mark spoke. His voice broke the silence of the ambient forest and rung through everyone's ears.

"We'll keep them busy for tonight..." Matt added, "You guys should leave. Maybe get some rest, or plan, or whatever... But somewhere FAR away from this cabin..."

Everyone nodded and said their goodbyes. Matt and Mark entered the cabin and the rest blocked all the exits with the branches they had cut earlier in the day.

Matt and Mark were now in the full room of the cabin, their only source of light was an old lightbulb in hanging in the middle of the room.

Both of them shivered slightly when they heard the muffled sound of the car tires on the forest ground.

"Maybe we can try to get them to talk about the past?" Matt offered. The sun was about half an hour from finally setting, but they felt the cold embrace of those other-worldy creatures right now.

"That's a good idea... But I don't know for how long it would hold them back..."

"Enough to make them change?"

A few seconds had passed in which Mark just looked at Matt in a surprised manner.

He only could shrug at that question.

That question lingered in his head longer than he expected. 'Can Lark change?' He thought. He remembered about how Lark had ruthlessly destroyed his city with Matthew.

'You don't just become as crazy as them to do that... Something must have happened...'

Matt had realised that Mark was beginning to overthink the question, so he asked another question to get Mark distracted.

"How did Lark enter you? Or like... Um... How did you figure out?" Matt trailed on from an audible voice to one of unsureness.

Mark had made a difficult face. It was mixed with sadness, anger and confusion. "I'm glad you asked that... I just wanted to tell someone but I didn't want anyone to get burdened..."

He let out a long sigh and began.

"I started to get hungry a lot often... I even began to eat a lot more... I seemed to be getting some sort of super strength too... I kinda shook it off for the first week. Until..."

He sucked in his breath.

"Until one day, I was getting hungry again... And there was nothing in the fridge and Lars and Edwardo had entered the kitchen... And I felt it..."

He took a deep breath...

"That... Inhuman hunger... Mouth mouth began to water at the sight of them... Then I- LARK, Lark made me imagine eating them! Tearing at their limbs!"

He looked at Matt for reassurance to continue on. Matt had shifted to sit closer to Mark. They were facing the same direction and Matt had his hand around Mark to comfort him.

"One day I even lost control of myself and was about to kill Jon!" He mumbled. He burried his head in between his palms and started to hyperventilate.

A a minute later, he was calmer. "What about you?"

"I started to want to sleep more... My eyes were red and my skin got pale... Ringo started hissing at me too..."

A pause

"Then I started to get sharp canines... And slowly, I heard Matthew's voice... That sick voice... That made me worry so bad about so many people..."

Suddenly, both of them felt a sharp pain in their chest. They looked in horror at each other... The sun had set! They were turning...

"Talk to them..." Matt said. Mark nodded and his eyes closed. The same thing happened to Matt.

They both felt numb as their bodies began to fall away from their control...
