Violet looked around the table she was sitting, surveyed the slightly oddball group of people, there was Luke, the slightly criminal senior, who she was pretty sure only came to school for the free food. He was protective of some of the people at their table. Ruby who was always a little odd even going back to elementary school, she always told the most interesting stories when she talked, she was pretty to with flaming red hair, that was slightly wavy. If she wasn't so strange s she would most likely have dates lining up, oh and the fact that she was a lesbian. Then there was Felix and Fiona, best friends since middle school who were aspiring artist, and musician respectively. There group of oddballs was rounded out with Riley, who dressed in all black and always had music blaring from headphones they had around their neck.
She would not say that they were friends per say, but they had the same lunch this year and they had ended up sitting at the same table. They had kinda continued doing that since.
"Hey Purple, you gonna eat that or can I have it," Luke asked beckoning to the uneaten chicken burger and apple that adorned her tray. He had started calling her purple once he found out her name was Violet.
"Yeah, sure," she said after all it is not like she was planning on eating it anyways, she was hungry, but she could not force herself to eat.
"thanks purple," Luke said, grabbing her entire tray, and hungerly grabbing the chicken burger off of her tray and taking a huge bite. Violet wrinkled her nose at him.
"What," Luke asked confused, taking another huge bite.
"I do not know how you enjoy those things, they are gross." Violet said looking at him questioning her decision to befriend him.
Luke just shrugged, in response to that. Violet tore her eyes away, and began to scan the room anxiously, while rubbing her hip slightly to savor, the pain from the somewhat fresh cuts. Violet continued to scan the room, looking for the eyes that she could feel, on her, call it her seventh sense if you will. Eventually she her eyes locked with James Reed, who immediately tore his gaze away and blushed furiously. She had no idea why a popular kid like James would be staring at her. A loud voice over the intercom interrupted her train of thought with a sharp,
Will Kallie French, and Jessica Lynn please report to the principal office at this time. Thank you.
The said girls, got up from where they were sitting, exchanging noticeably confused glances, and headed through the door and out into the lobby, disappearing from sight. Violet wondered what it could all be about.
Shaking that thought from her head, she realized what last Saturday had been, it was the day seven years ago that her aunt who had was only a year older than Violets current age, at the time, had disappeared. The worst part was that she had forgotten. She had forgotten about that date, it had turned into any other day. I am such a fuck up, I forgot about the day my own aunt was abducted, I deserve this... Violet thought to herself as she pushed harder onto her hips, wincing slightly under the pressure.
"Hey, you okay Purple," Luke asked concern seeping into his voice, as he was not even trying to hide it, which was unusual for him, at least in the three years that she had really known him. Luke tended not to show any feelings or personal connections, so this change of behavior puzzled her to an extent.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Violet answered automatically, giving him a small smile. Hopefully he would not ask her again, as she did not deserve his concern, she was worthless.
"Ok,. Whatever you say," Luke said like he did not really believe her. To be quite honest, she really did not care, if he did not believe her, as long as he kept his mouth shut.
"How, is Kia," Violet asked eager to change the topic off of herself onto something else, and Luke could never turn down the opportunity to talk about his three legged dog.
