epilogue!

To say Evan Rosier was excited to get back to Hogwarts was a huge understatement. He was itching just to step foot on the train, he was dreaming of running straight into that brick wall that sent you right into platform 9 3/4.

Evan was never a fan of the summer holidays, like at all. His mother was very sick, she rarely left her room and if she did, it would be to go to the hospital. Evans mum unfortunately had some illness that no magic spell or potion could cure, it was a plain muffle illness. Honestly, Evan was never close with his mum, she was often quiet and would never interfere when Evans father found the most cruel ways to punish him. So although Evan wasn't very fond of his mum, it still broke him that she was dying.

Evan wished that it was his father dying. Although that sounds like the most horrid and selfish thing to say, he really did believe that Evans dad deserved it. Evan can count on two fingers how many times his dad has probably tried to kill him. The most memorable time was when he locked Evan in his room and refused him water for the whole day. Evan was sick at the time too, and was convinced he was going to die. There wasn't a real reason for that one other than a petty argument.

Him and his father had many issues over the summer. It was easy to tell by the dark red bruise on his right cheek. His split lip was a giveaway too. But now it was only one more day til school was finally back. It was now his fifth year at Hogwarts, and Evan had a good feeling about this year. It was going to be his year.

Evan was most excited about seeing his friends again. He'd only seen Regulus over the summer, his parents had hosted a party and of course his father was invited. His mum was too, but she felt too ill on the day. Turns out that party was a big faux gathering to distract people from the fact that Sirius Black, Regulus' older brother, had ran away earlier that week. Regulus seemed unbothered about it, but Evan knew he cared, he was just too scared to show it.

Barty and Evan had exchanged letters all summer. Barty had quite the fun summer, his dad was on a business trip the whole time so it was just him and his mum baking and gardening all summer. Which sounds strange for someone like Barty, who puts on such a cool guy show, but Barty loved spending time with his mum. Evan slightly envied his best friend's relationship with his mother, but he knew that was unfair. Even before Evans mother fell sick, she never truly cared.

Pandora spent the whole summer in Italy. She sent Evan a cute Italian fridge magnet, he adores it and it lays balanced upon his quill pot in his desk. When Evans father first found out about the magnet, he believed Pandora was Evans girlfriend, he was thrilled because Dora is a pure-blood and a Malfoy, but when Evan grimaced in disgust, denying it quickly, Evans father spat in his face, calling him a disappointment.

Dorcas seemed to have a lovely summer. She went camping for the first two weeks, she sent Evan a much too descriptive letter about a melted marshmallow melting her favourite bra, he really could've gone his day without that information. The rest of the summer seemed normal for Dorcas, a few of her letters even managed to contain her bitching about Marlene McKinnion, it baffled Evan how even in the summer holidays McKinnion was still on Dorcas' mind.

And as for Evan, How was Evans Summer? All his friends had asked in all their letters, Evan would reply the same 'it's good, thanks, dads a pain despite it' all his friends knew what he meant, Evan never had to go into detail. He refuses anymore because if his friends write back, expressing their concern, Evans dad would know. His dad reads all his letters before Evan is allowed too. One time he read one about Dorcas kissing a girl during Christmas break, Evans dad did not go about that one lightly.
