On a Road Bound to Nowhere
Part 12

Cut because Girl never makes it back to the Church

"Time for a reality check. We all need to leave for DC right now."

Girl looked up, at this, snapping to attention at the idea of leaving. She'd managed her way out of the office a few minutes after finding out about Susanna. It was hard to move; bullet hole in her side, concussion plaguing her head, and exhaustion still pulling at her eyelids.

Daryl still wasn't back, and there was no way that she was going anywhere without him.

Injuries or not, Girl would choose to stay in the church alone to wait for Daryl over leaving without him any day.

"Daryl and Carol are gonna be back. We're not going anywhere without them," Rick said, unknowingly voicing Girl's concerns.

"I respect that, but there's a clear threat here to Eugene. I need to extract his ass before things get any uglier. So if y'all won't come, good luck to you. We'll go our separate ways," Abraham said, raising his hands in surrender.

"You leaving on foot?" Rick asked.

"We fixed that damn bus ourselves," Abraham shrugged.

"There are a lot more of us," Rick pointed out, taking a threatening step forward.

Girl shrunk in on herself, not seeing this going anywhere good.

"You want to keep it that way? You should come," Abraham offered, looking around him, "you all should."

"Carol saved your life. We saved your life," Rick said, trying to reason with Abraham. They had a plan. A plan to take Gareth and his group down.

"Well, I am trying to save yours. Save everyone's!"

"We're not going anywhere without our people," Rick argued.

"Your people took off."

"They're coming back-"

"To what, picked-over bones?!" Abraham shouted, "Look what's already happened! Bob's missing a goddamned leg!" Abraham pointed to the door of the office Bob was sleeping in.

"And- and the girl? The girl got mutialted by some sick freak with a biting kink-"

"Odaxelagnia."

"What?"

"Biting kink. It's called odaxelagnia," Eugene said, cutting into the conversation.

"I don't give a shit what it's called! He ate half her arm and you just want to wait around for him to come back and finish the job?" Abraham shouted, pointing an almost accusatory finger at Girl.

"Okay, I think we should-"

"Leave her out of it, Abraham, she's been through enough," Glenn cut in, "we can't leave."

"Do you really think that you're gonna be any safer leaving right now in the middle of the night?" Rick asked.

"Yeah," Abraham nodded, "long as we're gone before the crazies get here. I call it safe."

"What about tomorrow?" Glenn offered, "We need each other for this. We need each other to get to DC. We can get through all of it together."

"I have an idea," Tara piped up. All eyes snapped to the woman, she'd spoken suddenly, grabbing everyone's attention as they patiently waited to hear her thoughts.

"If you stay just one more day and help, I'll go with you to DC no matter what. Okay?" Tara said, taking a deep breath.

"Glenn and Maggie, too," Abraham demanded.
