God Won't Forgive Me For My Sins

The frigid winter air bites at my skin as I walk to the meeting point. The jacket I have on isn't exactly thick enough for 24° but it was the only appropriate coat I had. I run my fingers gently over the black fabric before dropping my hand to feel my back pocket. It's still there. Good.

"Finally. I thought you'd never arrive." A man whose face is not well concealed approaches me quickly. I take in his appearance, just in case I need to rat someone out to the police. He's thin, as druggies usually are, with ripped black jeans and slim black hoodie. I take a quick look around and slip him the merchandise.

"Sorry, sorry. Got caught up." I shove my hands into my front pockets and shuffle back the way I came a bit. He slips it into the back of his jeans and slinks off into the dark alleyway.

I do the same, into the dark alleyway behind me, opposite to the way the man went. I'm careful, observant of my surroundings, not particularly wanting to get arrested tonight. I slip through a small gap in the fence and building, letting myself blend in with the city's nightlife.

Despite it being illegal, most drug deals made in this city are in public. No one notices, and anyone that does keeps their mouth shut. Luckily people learn from the first mistake here.

I unzip my jacket, and loosen my arms, just to make myself seem less suspicious. Even if people have learnt their lesson the first time, they tend to jump on seemingly suspicious people.

I've already started on my usual route home, when I get a call. I slip my phone out of my front pocket and glance at the caller ID. I quickly answer the phone with a monotone, "Yes sir?"

"I'm trusting the deal went well this time, seeing as you are already headed home." The raspy voice seeps through the phone's speakers, sending chills through my body.

"Yes sir."

"Yet you were late. Why?" The question is not a concerned one, and his question is stern, the anger evident in his voice.

"I won't waste your time with excuses sir. I apologize deeply." I try my hardest to not allow the fear seep through in my tone of voice, the flat tone becoming harder to maintain. I rest myself against the wall, as to seem I'm on the phone with a family member and not with a very dangerous person.

"I did not tell you to spare me excuses, I told you to tell me why, in fact, you were late."

A knot quickly forms in my throat, knowing he already knows the reason I was late. He always does, he never lets a dealer be left unwatched, especially with product on them. "I overslept sir, I broke my alarm a previous night and the phone you have provided me with does not have a working alarm app."

"You're getting by easier today as you didn't try to lie this time. Come by the house. I'll have the alarm fixed. Once it is, you will no longer have any excuse to be late to a deal." The call clicks off as he hangs up, a breath of relief falling past my chapped lips.

I zip the jacket back up and check the time. 7:24. Still early for my taste but to see Sir for less time, I let myself slip into a slight jog, allowing myself to build up to a faster paced run. I navigate the way to the Manor easily, having taken the run many times before. I make good time, almost exactly 20 minutes.

I let myself catch my breath until the clock turns to 7:44, before quickly heading inside, nodding my head in hello as I pass the gate's guards. I head to the elevator off in the left side of the Manor, quickly stepping inside and pressing the 3rd floor button to go up to Sir's office. The elevator dings as it arrives and it's door's slide open to reveal a very red faced and disheveled Colin, or as we all call him, Sir.

"I expected you here sooner. Tsk. I'm disappointed, I always tell you that you can run faster than that." He shakes his head at me and runs his fingers through his hair in an attempt to flatten it. I take a short step forward just to be stopped halfway by a large, strong hand. "I never said you could approach." He shoves a box into my hands before turning me around and pushing me "gently", back into the elevator.

"Yes, Sir." I click the button to go back to the lobby, and watch him as the doors close and a long haired brunette in lingerie steps out of the bedroom. Tears brim my eyes as the doors shut up a soft thud.

A/N: This will probably be the normal length for the chapters but some will be shorter for story purposes and more than a few will be longer for more imagery and story. I hope you enjoyed! - Waystoberunning
