NOVA
The moment the door to my room closed, I felt at peace. There was something about the soft gray carpet caressing my feet that filled me with a calm. Fighting off the panic that had suddenly emerged in the lobby when my heart couldn't part with Theo.
I looked around the room. It was as beautiful as the lobby. I reminded of me any normal hotel room though. A bed on one wall with a bedside table on both side. A chest of drawers on the other with a TV on the top. A desk near the curtained window. However all the furniture was made of the same marble that spread across the lobby. The room also felt so new, as if this place was rarely used. I mean it made sense, everyone we had passed seemed to know where they were going. My mind drifted to Theo. Imagining him with me. Curled up next to him as we watch movies on this bed. My mind kept drifting and I could feel my face become warm with embarrassment.
It was odd. I'd never felt this way and I couldn't really pin point exactly where this was all coming from. Back when I was in high school, I'd gone on a couple dates. There was always nothing. No spark. No butterflies. But with this stranger, I felt like I was floating over an ocean. My heart lifting as his existence lulled me into a peaceful sleep.
I sighed and looked at myself in a full length mirror in the corner of the room. Who was I? I could barely recognize this person. She had the same blonde hair. Kind of frizzy but manageable. Same green eyes. Everything was me but there was something different. Like something in me was finally clicking.
As I finished taking myself in, a new panic set in. I was supposed to see Theo later and I looked like this. My leggings had golden plant pricking out and my sweatshirt felt so casual. What am I supposed to do. I ran through my hair, trying to de-frizz it the best I could.
I sat on the bed and eyed the phone. Was this like home? Could you call the front desk. The girl was nice and I wondering if may she would be able to help me.
I sucked in a breathe and tried to tackle my pride. I needed to do something, rather than sit here in a panic. I picked up the phone and dialed 0, hoping that the occasional family trip had taught me something. It rang and I sat there fidgeted with the cord.
"Front desk," someone said softly through the other side.
I sighed and smiled. "Hey, it's Nova. I wondering if I could get some help."
"Is something wrong with your room?" I believe Anastasia asked. It sounded like her but I wasn't 100 percent sure.
I laughed. Not believing that anything could ever be wrong with this place. It seemed perfect. "No. I- I don't have any clothes with me and I didn't know where I could buy some or something. There's also the fact that I don't have any basic necessities. You know, like a tooth brush."
There was a moment of silence and then she giggled. "Oh, I see. We do have a store on our sub-level. Would you like me to send some stuff up. I'm pretty good at guessing sizing so you shouldn't have to come down."
I smiled into the phone. Maybe everything was going to be fine. This stupid panic wasn't worth my time. "Yes, that would be perfect."
"How would you like to pay?" She asked and pulled me right back in. I didn't have money on me and I wasn't even sure if they'd take it. How did people pay here? Blood sacrifices? No, that seemed a little too weird. This place seemed civilized. They had to have their kind of currency.
