❝ What a fun way to spend the holidays, huh? ❞GREEN IS AN INTERESTING COLOR.
Green reminds Jamie of nature, above all else. As a kid, she spent most of her days outside. It used to amaze her; the way the trees, flowers, and grass seemed to be able to grow seemingly on their own. How she'd see the bud of a flower one day and its leaves the next. More green meant that there was more life.
Maybe that's why winter is one of her least favorite seasons. The later months kill life with their merciless cold. Leaves fall off their branches and get trampled, only to get buried beneath feet of snow later. As much as Jamie loved playing in the snow, she was also someone who got sick rather easily. For three consecutive winters, she has caught some kind of cold thanks to the temperatures below 30 degrees (fahrenheit). It forced her to stay inside when other kids in the neighborhood would build men and angels of snow.
This year was no exception. Earlier this month, Jamie had been out for too long and found herself with a cough and a bad headache the next morning. It took her a week to make a recovery, but even now, she still finds it hard to breathe. Jamie feels green, but with nausea instead of flora and fauna.
But she didn't dare let herself sleep in any longer. If she'd stayed at the dorm for another day while her friends were away at the studio, Jamie would be forced to sit out on the SBS Music Awards, which were a little more than a week away.
Now, a few hours into practice, Jamie finds herself drunk on exhaustion. The music cuts out and she finally lets her legs melt. She spills onto the floor, feeling like a sad, gross, damp pile of soup. And as she feels herself lose more of her energy onto the floor as it keeps spreading, spilling, escaping, all she can think is Wow, soup sounds really good right now. It's too bad I had to die before I could have some.
She hears someone move towards her, nudging her leg with their foot. "Jamie, are you alive?"
Jamie doesn't open her eyes to respond. "No."
Rosé laughs. Jamie's eyelids lift themselves open and meet her extended hand. Jamie's hand slaps into Rosé's, and soon, both girls are groaning at the effort it takes to get Jamie upright. Then, Rosé joins Jamie on the floor, panting slightly.
Jennie sighs, letting her eyes rake over Jamie's slumped figure. "Jamie, stop overworking yourself."
From where she sits, Jamie looks up. Her smile fades when she sees Jennie's face. She's slightly annoyed, but for the most part, concerned. Concerned as Jamie struggles just to straighten her back. Jamie avoids clutching at her chest to grab at the sharp pain that follows her deep inhale. "I'm just catching up."
"Jamie, we're literally only performing two songs," Jisoo chides, her laughter soft as she moves next to Jennie.
"Yeah, and one of them isn't ours," Jamie says. She huffs but winces immediately, forgetting her chest is still tight. "I lost a lot of time in the week I was sick."
