Mr Davies adjusted his glasses, handed a book and pen to Derenle.
"The story is definitely not ending here." He patted his shoulder.
"Or do you want to accept this defeat?"
Derenle stared feebly at him.
"It's very fine to be defeated in a war, but it is not okay to remain defeated. Do you watch Wrestling?"
"Yes." Derenle muttered as he nodded.
"Good." Mr Davies said in excitement and leaned forward, placing his two hands on the desk.
"Brock Lesnar defeating Roman Reigns in a match doesn't make Reigns weaker than Brock, right? We can't determine their strengths from a single match, and that is why there is always a rematch to defend their titles, and sometimes, to be really sure of who is stronger. If Brock keeps winning in subsequent matches, it then shows that his first defeat was not by coincidence neither was it by luck, he is truly stronger than Roman reigns." He paused.
"Are you catching what I'm trying to say Derenle?" He snapped his fingers.
"Oh yes, I'm following."
"Very good. Have you ever wondered why Roman Reigns or any other good wrestler comes out victorious in a rematch after being defeated initially? Don't rack your brain, I will tell you." He laughed.
"Well, what they do is to go back after every defeat to restrategize, they identify why they lost, practically work on it and also, figure out with plans how to overcome their opponents. It's simple."
Derenle nodded, placing his pollex on his chin.
"Flow with me Rele." He beamed.
"You have lost the fight to the cold hands of your opponent, but you can't afford to keep loosing. You are not a loser, man. You just have to restrategize."
"I would have appreciated this discussion if it came some weeks earlier, but it is of no use again Barrister. There is no way I can make use of all these knowledge you are trying to imbibe in me. I advise you save your strength."
"Thank God you said it's my strength, I'm not interested in saving it. Follow me through Derenle, I promise that you will need this." He persuaded.
Derenle reluctantly told him to go on with his discussion.
"You have to restrategize if you want to win this war. Are you ready?
"Yes sir."
"Thank God you know what you're contending with. It's your weakness. So, write it down."
Derenle picked up the pen, inscribed 'My weakness; anger' on the paper.
"How have you tried to overcome this contention?"
"See barrister, I've tried so hard to fight this anger issues, but it keeps having an upper hand over me. I've sought help from different people, I've read different blogs on managing anger, I've tried so hard to control my temper. Many times, I've tried to walk away, but my different measures keep failing. I'm fed up." Derenle sighed.
"Interesting, write it down too." He waited for Derenle to write his statements on the paper before proceeding.
"Those your failed measures to fight this giant should be cancelled out. You have to device another plan that is reliable enough to pull down this giant. You can strike out those your old strategies Derenle." He urged him.
"Now, let's think together. First, I want you to understand that this thing you're fighting with is not within your power that is why every of your measures keep failing. Permit me to share my faith with you Mr Derenle. This war against your weakness is beyond you, and on your own, you can't triumph over it.
When a feeble nation wants to war against a stronger nation, she knows that on her own, she will be defeated. What she does is to ally with another nation who is stronger than her adversary. In that manner, her infirmity will be overshadowed, and she wins the battle. Do you get what I'm saying?" He asked.
"The bible says in Ephesians 6:12; 'for our struggle is not against flesh and blood.' If it was just flesh and blood, we could have easily fought with our strength. See what it says; 'but against the powers of this dark world and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms' My brother, it's not just an ordinary war, you need a very strong ally. Note that down Derenle, that's your first strategy."
"Okay." He said as he penned it down.
"The next thing is to find the right ally. it will be so bad to be conquered with an ally. The next step is finding the right ally. Romans 8:26a says; 'In the same way, the spirit helps us in our weakness.' The same Spirit says in 2corinthians 12:9 that His grace is sufficient, and His power is made sufficient in weakness. Rele, the only ally you need is the spirit of God. You should note that down too." He paused.
"Shall we?"
"Go on Sir." Derenle replied.
"So, this generous man wants to fight for you. Isn't that interesting? Sure it is, but He wants you also to put on His full armor, this will keep you safe from any arrow your opponent directs to you. Ephesians 6:14-18 lists it all out; you need to wear the belt of truth, and who is this truth? In John 14:6, Jesus Christ said that He is the way, the truth and the life. So, you need Christ around you, the shield of faith so that you will triumph, your salvation is very much important and also, righteousness. You also have to carry the sword of the spirit which is the word of God, fill your heart with the word of God. I hope you're still taking notes of all these?" He asked.
"Mr Derenle, this man is only willing to help his own people. So, you have to cross over to His side first, be among His people too and then, cry for His help, plead for His mercy to help you combat your opponent. I must also tell you that these things doesn't happen like magic, it might take a little while to completely overcome your weakness, you might not see an instant change. Infact, you might feel defeated again, but I urge you not to feel like that even if you see yourself getting angry again; rather, press on with your cry for mercy, go about with the sword of the spirit by studying daily God's word, and flee from everything that will make you defeated by your weakness. Running doesn't make you weak my guy." He patted him.
"You can never get defeated with the greatest ally by your side." He added.
"Do you get all I have said?"
"More than what you've said Barrister." Derenle beamed.
"Thank you so much Mr Davies."
"Back to my official duty." He said with a baritone voice.
"Before then, let us pray." He said and held his hands.
"You are helped by the mercies of the lord to triumph over your weaknesses in Jesus' name."
