"Now, to the official duty." Mr Davies said, adjusting his tie.
"I think that's all I need for now. I will keep you updated about my progress. I believe strongly that your victory is certain. You will be acquainted and discharged by the court of law." He winked.
Derenle laughed hysterically.
"What is giving you this great conviction? It seems you don't know the people I'm dealing with." He scoffed.
"Lara's people hated me right from time, and they are people of great affluence who command things. You are just a young lawyer, I will advise you stay on your lane." He paused.
"Like I stated earlier, I only want to fulfill all righteousness, that is why I got a lawyer. It is crystal clear that I will be convicted and sentenced, I'm only waiting to hear how the judgement will come."
"We will appeal then." Mr Davies said.
"Don't give me false hope, my brother. See, there's no time to waste time, don't be surprised if the whole proceedings and judgement takes very limited time." He laughed.
"My guy, you know what I'm talking about, you're not a novice in the system.
"Yes, I know. We will appeal in the court of heavens."
"Thank God you said court of heavens." Derenle cut him off.
"This is earth, and we utilize the court here on earth. Don't worry too much about me." He smiled.
As the two were rounding off their discussion, a guard walked in, and requested that Derenle should immediately report to the divisional police officer's office, Mr Davies went in with him as his lawyer. Derenle was
astonished to see Lara's father and cousin who reported him seated. He stared ashamedly at them, and later shifted his gaze to the D.P.O who was holding a file in his hands.
"Good day Mr Derenle." The D.P.O greeted.
Derenle reciprocated with a nod.
"Your father-in-law has some sorts of good news for you. I don't know why he has come up with this decision at this time. Infact, I have pleaded with him to at least let this case be arrayed to the court of law, and let the court do their work even if it might be to your favour because of the autopsy conducted on Lara."
Derenle looked at the lawyer, who in turned looked puzzled.
"How?" He managed to speak.
"Ehm." His father-in-law cleared his throat.
"I wouldn't let my hatred for you lead me otherwise anyways." He adjusted his glasses.
"I was persuaded to run an autopsy test on my daughter by a friend, and here is the result. Well, it showed that Lara died of hypoglycemia- low blood sugar. it's surprising right? I was shocked as well. it's just so unfortunate that she had to fall dangerously. If she hadn't hit her head hard in such manner, she might have escaped death. Well, she sustained a mild concussion that led to her death."
"I knew I didn't touch her, I was only trying to walk away when I saw that she had fallen, and injured herself." Derenle said in his defense.
"I also noticed the way she acted dizzy while I was talking to her, but my nonchalance made me pay less attention to it." He bit his finger.
"Derenle, you can just go home, I'm not interested in this case again, but do well to work on your issues too." He advised.
Derenle jumped up in excitement, and the mysteries Mr Davies had been saying began to unfold.
Lara's father signed the necessary documents and left."You said it Barrister." Derenle screamed as he walked out of the station .
"You told me Mr Davies." He shook him in joy.
"Congratulations Derenle." Mr Davies hugged him tightly.
"Here's a great and rare privilege given to you to amend your ways, and also, equip and prepare others to fight this cold war. Derenle please, don't let this slip from your hands this time around."
"Thank you Barrister." He cried.
"Maami once told me that nothing will stop the light, I now believe. I will spread the light across to all who are in the middle of a cold war. We will not be stranded in the battle ground because we have backing. We are indeed victorious by the blood of the lamb!"Conquerors and overcomers now are we,
Thro' the precious blood of Christ we've victory,
If the Lord be for us, we can never fail
Nothing 'gainst his mighty power can ever prevail."Join me as I sing."
Conquerors are we, through the blood, through the blood
God will give us victory, through the blood, through the blood,
Thro' the Lamb for sinners slain,
Yet who lives and reigns again,
More than conquerors are we,
More than conquerors are we.VICTORY IS CERTAIN!!!
