There's No Place Like Home

Chapter Six

Half an hour passed and Toni was knocking on the front door.

Getting up, Veronica makes her way toward the door.

"So, what outfits were you thinking about?" Toni asked as soon as Veronica opened the door.

Humming softly, Veronica begins walking back toward her room. "Well I was thinking of wearing this cute red blouse beneath a leather jacket I own with a pair of black skinny jeans. But I don't know."

"Show me." Toni said, following Veronica.

Cheryl was asleep on Veronica's bed when they walked in.

Toni stopped in the doorway when she saw Cheryl.

Veronica turns to look at her. "Sorry, she's been staying here and fell asleep."

"Oh," was all Toni said.

Nodding her head, Veronica moves over to her closet.

Toni stood awkwardly in the doorway.

Cheryl shifts on the bed, her hand going to her stomach again. Except she remains asleep.

Toni looked away from Cheryl, holding back tears. She was trying to be strong but it hurt to see Cheryl. Peaches had screwed everything up for them.

Veronica walks out of the closet in the outfit she wanted Toni's opinion on.

Toni hadn't heard her come out of the closet and she stared at the door, trying desperately not to cry.

"What do you think?" Veronica asks, stopping in front of her.

Toni looked up at Veronica. "I don't know what Archie likes but it looks good to me." She shrugged halfheartedly.

Veronica frowns softly. "Everything okay?"

"Fine." Toni said.

"You sure? You look like you're about to cry." Veronica says just as Cheryl shifts on the bed again, her shirt rising slightly.

Toni looked away. "I'm fine."

"She misses you." Veronica says, glancing toward Cheryl.

Toni said nothing, a tear rolled from her eye.

"Talk to her." The slightly older brunette says softly.

"She's sleeping." Toni said.

Cheryl shifts again before suddenly getting up and darting into the bathroom.

Toni frowned.

Veronica is quick to run after Cheryl.

Toni stood awkwardly beside the door.

A few minutes later, Cheryl walks out of the room and pauses upon seeing Toni.

Toni was staring at her feet.

"Toni." Cheryl breathes out.

Toni lifted her head slowly.

The redhead was wide eyed, her arms wrapped protectively around her stomach.

"Cheryl." Toni said quietly.

"Hi." Cheryl barely gets out.

"Hi." Toni repeated.

Swallowing thickly, Cheryl looks down. "We need to talk."

"We do." Toni agreed.

Veronica quickly leaves the room to give them space.

"There's something you should know." Cheryl says softly, not looking up.

Toni stared at Cheryl.

Taking a deep breath, Cheryl finally looks up at her. "I'm pregnant."
