It had been 3 years since Naruto had escaped the Elemental Nations and arrived at what is known the Shinobi World as the Western Lands. There, his new life began when he became the ward to a Nobleman by the name of Diego Montoya, who felt like he had taken a big step in responsibility by allowing himself to care for the boy. And it did not start off as easy as he hoped, since Naruto seemed timid and secluded himself, trusting no one but Diego. The man often wondered what is it that the boy had through before arriving here, to leave him in such a mess that it were like he a newborn? Perhaps it did not matter as much, since Naruto seemed to have also been a quick learner, adapting rather easily to his new surroundings. He learned how to forge and repair weapons at Diego's home, and the most common of things, such as cooking, cleaning, gardening; Diego saw to it that the boy would be well cared for and grow to be the healthiest he can be under his wing. Eventually, he saw fit to enroll Naruto into a public school, where he would get an ordinary education.

Sure, Naruto complained a lot, but hey, he was still learning and that was the important.

It wasn't completely boring though, it was only to ensure that Naruto would be trained mentally; to ensure that he had a lot of booksmarts, but Diego took it upon himself to see through getting the boy some practical experience...in a rather special way. While he did teach Naruto to be of some use at home, he also began training Naruto in something he knew the child was going to love. Afterall, what was the point of owning a forgery if you were going to practice with the weapons that you create/repair? Whenever Diego and Naruto were given some free time together, the Nobleman trained the boy to fence, teaching how the saber, the movements are the right kind for offense and defense in fencing, how his footwork should go in combat. And that was not everything, for when they really wanted to have some fun, Diego took Naruto for a little night on the town, or should it said as...above the town? For during those nights, they took to the rooftops for a little 'parkour', as its called these days. Sometimes, they race each other to the highest peak in town and other times, it was too show just how fast, strong, and agile Naruto became in just about a couple of months worth of training.

Naruto never felt more alive than when he was with the man who took him and treated him like family. He sometimes wonders if this was the kind of training he could've had if he had stayed in Konoha and was allowed to be a ninja. But this seemed like it was for the best, as he seemed happy with this new life, even if it was rather simple, he couldn't wish for me than what he had right now. He could even feel as if the Fox within was happy for him as well, growing stronger, more ready for the path ahead. What that meant? He didn't ask whenever he spoke to the Kyuubi alone; he dared not to mention the beast to Diego, for this was something he could not understand, nor could he help with his control over it...

The first year of Naruto's new life, he adopted the name "Nathaniel" and had even taken Diego's last name "Montoya" as his own, believe the man to be as a father to him, and he was like a son to him. Diego did grow to love Naruto as family, but that was something he'd yet to admit. With his new life, his new name, his new home, Nathaniel had become a respected young man around the town that was called "Pueblo Rosa", or "Rose Town" to be exact.

Did I forget to mention that he was somewhere Spanish-like?

In any case, Nathaniel was growing to be a young Nobleman-in-training at the age of eleven. It was during that time when he found that Diego was not as respected as he thought, at least with the public, but not with other so-called "Nobles". When introduced as Diego's ward, Nathaniel saw that man others who shared Diego's title were rather spoiled, believing themselves to above normal citizens. Their own wards were no better, as Nathaniel couldn't see himself interacting with children who cared about their looks, their possessions and making fun of other kids who had less money than them. He much rather the company of normal people than that of spoiled rich kids. Diego simply taught that its just how things are; there have been those looking the change the ways of the system, but have only made a few minor changes that seldom mean anything. The country in where they live were run by a rather corrupted government who looked down upon their citizens, and Nobles such as the ones Nathaniel has encountered were merely their pawns. They ran the army, mining, dependence of substances that allow towns like Rosa to thrive, but it worked with them lying, stealing and attempting to gain something it much greater than their so-called allies.
