This isn't a poem that i wrote with the main focus of WW1 or WW2 but it is open to interpretation. This was my entry for a poetry competition called "Poetopia" and i wanted to know your opinions and feedback. Thank you :)

If and Only Then

If the nights were oblivion,

and the days rained fire.

Would you hold my hand?

And pray amongst the choir.

If the ground crumbled away,

and the earth split apart.

Would you take my hand?

And hold it to your heart.

If doom called your name,

and you heard his words.

Would you tell me it's alright?

And shield me from the curse.

If the world stopped spinning,

and the birds stopped flying.

Would you hold me close?

And help me live with dying.

If all of this happened,

and there was no other way.

I would stand by your side,

until the end of days
