⥤ Chapter Two : The Beads ⥢

Rainfall and nightfall come hand in hand onto Pandora. All the teens sit in a circle, with the Avatars guarding them.

(Y/N) finds Lo'ak's eyes on her often. She wants to smile at the thought of him worrying about her. However, her eyes often exchange to Spider.

In that moment, the 'twin telepathy' they always had, derails. She cannot read his expression, she can no longer tell what he's thinking, but sees his eyes flicker to their father.

The sounds of Pandora are foreign to the Avatars, but not to the teens. Even the twins can pick apart the sounds, isolating Neytiri's call.

They all share a look, all acknowledging their escape is soon. Spider's eyes tell (Y/N) something different .. something uncertain. She tries to trust him.

"A mother and father protects."

(Y/N) spots Neytiri in the trees, her bow aimed directly for the girl. (Y/N) knew that Neytiri's 'alien' mindset would allow the mother to shoot through her, to kill the Avatar behind her.

Neytiri takes a deep breath, before shooting. (Y/N) quickly dodges the arrow, her captor being killed.

"Go!" Lo'ak says, ripping the pin off a gas bomb from his nearest enemy. He gets up, grabbing (Y/N)'s hand and taking off.

They clear the smoke, with Tuk grabbing (Y/N)'s free hand admits the escape.

"Go!" I hear from Spider, bringing Kiri.

Gunfire aims for Neytiri's in the trees. Her mate wields an axe, fighting on the ground.

Quaritch is forced into hiding, but he reloads his weapon without any plans of giving up. A body falls beside him, Neytiri's arrow mocking Quaritch's human death. This makes him terrified.

"Is that you Mrs. Sully?" He calls out. Neytiri is shocked to hear that voice again.

"Demon!" She shouts. "I'll kill you as many times as I have to!"

"We have some unfinished business," Quaritch taunts back.

Her conversation with Quaritch distracts her enough for another Avatar to aim a weapon toward her. He has a clear shot.

Lo'ak let's go of (Y/N) to grab Tuk for cover.

(Y/N) turns to look for Spider in the chaos, but she doesn't see him. She does, however, see the Avatar aiming for Neytiri.

She rushes to a nearby dead Avatar, searching the gunless body an alternate weapon. She finds a knife, quickly taking it and throwing it at her target.

Neteyam witnesses (Y/N) save his mother's life.

(Y/N) moves quickly, reuniting with Spider, Kiri, Lo'ak, and Tuk. They take to the trees, climbing for cover as gunfire is aimed at them now.

Spider loses his footing, and falls to the ground.

"Spider!" Kiri calls, but her mother grabs her to safety.

(Y/N) reaches the branch Lo'ak is on. She hears Kiri, and looks down to her brother.

Quaritch finds him and checks him for injuries, before throwing the body over his shoulder. He calls for his team to retreat, just as his airlift comes to get them.

Lo'ak wraps an arm around (Y/N)'s waist, afraid she'll go after Spider.

(Y/N) half fights to get out of Lo'ak's grip, but eventually becomes still. She accepts her brother's fate.
