GREGGY's POV:ALPHALAND BAGUIO MOUNTAIN LODGES
-April 19, 2011, One day before Greggy's birthdayOur supposed Hongkong trip was canceled last minute because Irene's passport cannot be expedited on time enough for her to use it. But because I am adamant that we spend even just a week of our time together with just the two of us, I booked for a cabin log house here in Alphaland Baguio. The owner is the same as that of Balesin Club and a very good friend of mine. I am grateful that he helped me out after telling him as to why am I doing this. To say that he was shocked after knowing that I already am married is the funniest thing ever since we became friends!
We're arriving via chopper. And I learned that this is Irene's first time. She's squealing with delight the whole time! She's taking pictures of everything that she finds fascinating but what I love the most is how she never let go of my hand the entire trip.
'Baba? Thank you. This is so much fun!'
"You're welcome. Are you happy?"
'Very, Baba! Very happy. You?'I look at her with this freaking smile never leaving my face! I can't help it. I am so drawn to the pull of her energy, it's making me crazy.
'Ba.. masaya ka ba?'
"Sobra."Sobrang mahal kita.

When we arrived, we are ushered to their welcome center while they are preparing our baggage for the check in. I requested if we can somehow booked their 6-bedroom lodge in spite of having last minute booking. I just really wanted Irene to have the best possible time she could have before she goes back to her school works and hospital duties again. For you to book your stay, you have to either be a guest of any homeowner of the mountain lodge or if you are a member of the Balesin Island Club, which I am. There are 300 lodge-style log homes here but not as much for the 6-bedroom type.
If Irene wanted to have her own space here, I might buy one. But I am not too thrilled with the idea of owning a property here before, because this sits 5,300 ft. above sea level. My ears would hurt along the way, and that's something I don't think I can tolerate long enough. The change in altitude is not for me.With Irene beside me, checking me every now and then, after I told her about my altitude issues, I now believe that I can live with that. Oh good Lord. I have the prettiest wife.'Baba? Open again. Yawn, o kaya here.. mag take ka ng chewing gum.'
"Again?"
'Again. You have to equalize the pressure, please? Medyo stiff na yung lower part ng ear mo dito. Please?'
"What will happen? If ayaw ko?"
'Magagalit ako. Now, chewing gum.'"Any pain meds kaya? I'm not used to chewing gum."
'Decongestant. I'll give you later, pagka kain mo. Just talk na lang muna. So your jaws are moving.'"Thank you. For taking care of me."
'Asawa kita ehh. It's only proper that I look after you. Tsaka gusto mo yun? Gwapo ka nga, bingi ka naman?'I am planning on tickling Irene when we saw a group, too familiar to be honest, walking towards us.
