Buffy stood, sad and torn apart inside, but also filled with a joy that she never would have allowed herself to hope for. Her beloved Spike was gone, and he had not believed her when she told him that she loved him. Why she had not told him sooner, she didn't know. All she knew was that he was gone, and Buffy would never see Spike again.

Now that Buffy was allowed to lead a semi-normal life, she and Spike could have been happy together. She tried not to weep as she looked over the crater that was previously Sunnydale.

Dawn stood next to Buffy, the taller of the two. She wrapped an arm around Buffy and held her close. Dawn was happy for her sister, but she, too, also tried not to cry as she thought of the loss of Spike and all of Sunnydale.

Xander stayed away from the group, approaching Andrew and asking if he knew what had happened to Anya. After learning that his beloved had gone down in the battle, he walked towards Buffy. He was proud of Anya, so proud, but he wished that he could see her one more time. He was beginning to break. Anya, although she had not been his anymore, was all that he had left. And now she was gone.

Willow was still coming down from her magic high, feeling extremely satisfied with how the spell had worked. Although she herself was not a slayer, she had felt the power that they had when doing the spell. Jealousy overtook her for a moment when she felt this, and she wanted to extend beyond the spell's boundaries and make herself a slayer. Willow could be both a witch and a slayer, a deadly combination. She had almost done this, but realized the danger that it held for the world and that she may ruin everything that they were fighting for. The First would have won. Willow was still very afraid of the darkness inside her, but she knew that she would continue to fight it. She also knew that she had done good today, and that feeling filled her with immense pride.

Faith stood a bit behind Buffy. She knew that Buffy deserved to be free from her burden of being the slayer. Buffy had held the torch longer, died for the cause but still managed to find a way to stick with it no matter how hard it was to fight the evils of the world. Faith felt as though she did not deserve to be freed from being one of the two slayers, since she was not as good as Buffy. Buffy deserved this, Faith did not. But she took pride in knowing that she had helped in the battle, to save the world, and she liked the path that she was on.

The potentials were still on the bus, watching the beautiful sight as the Scoobies gathered together, arms wrapped around each other as they just looked at the crater.

Giles still did not know his place in all of this. He knew that Buffy no longer really needed him, but he would still be with her every step of the way. He knew that Willow needed guidance, and Dawn needed a strong father figure in her life. Oh, yes. He would be there with them.

Buffy looked to Giles. "Where do we go from here? I mean, our homes are... gone." She managed a wry smile, and he returned it.

"Buffy, I'm honestly... I'm not sure what to do," Giles said.

"That's a first," Willow said, and Buffy snorted.

"I thought that this part was obvious, B. We go to Angel, in L.A.," Faith said with a sly smile.
