Derek's POV
It took longer than expected to get to the small town of Beacon Hills and now all that was left is to find John. . .
"Can I help you?" a young woman with vibrant long red hair asked me. I simply nodded and said "Yes, I'm here to find a man by the name of John," the red-haired woman smiled "John Stilinski?" I once again nodded and the woman set off down the road, every now and then she would turn back to ensure I was still behind her.
"There is something I wish to ask?" the woman tilts her head in interest "My friend Claudia, was she from around here?" The redhead stops in her tracks, a look of disbelief upon her face "Claudia is John's wife, they have a son but she left, out of nowhere nine years ago."
Her statement leaves me in silence and I clear my throat. "I'm sorry to tell you this but she passed away quite recently." I said, making the red haired woman sigh. "I'm guessing the council finally found her." She took my silence and confirmation and she looked me in the eye, "It's a shame, she was one of a kind". "She saved my life. I was a soldier and Claudia turned me just over four years ago after I jumped on a mine to save a fellow soldier."
"It's funny you say that, a few years back Claudia's son came home from the war with a story about a heroic man who jumped on a mine to save his life"
The woman stops in front of a small house. "This is it, the Stilinski residence." She says proudly. It all suddenly clicks in my mind. Why the name Stilinski sounds so familiar. The young Stilinski kid who I once knew during the war, the kid I died for.
A young man strides out of the house. "Hey Lyds, who is your friend?"
"STILES" the word flies out of my mouth and the boy finally looks at me, I can see it as it dawns on him. The man who died in his place on the battlefield has shown up at his door years later.
Stiles' mouth is wide open, he keeps looking at my face unable to believe his eyes. The boy faints and would have hit the ground if I hadn't caught him.
I've got a lot of explaining to do...
