Molly couldn't handle another set of twins. Hell, she could barely cope with Fred and George, so once she had both of the babies out of her and it was announced that she finally had her little girl, she was full of joy. She felt complete until she laid her eyes upon the child."Mollywobbles, what's wrong?" Arthur asked, smiling.
"That is not my little girl."
"What?" Arthur asked
"Look at her Arthur. She isn't the perfect little girl I want."
"How can you say such a thing?" Arthur frowned, making his little lucky clover cry.
"Because I don't want her! Just take her to Dumbledore! He will know what to do" She sneered. Arthur looked at his beautiful little girl and took her to Dumbledore as his wife requested.
Dumbledore sighed as Arthur left, the poor man was utterly destroyed. He looked to the little girl who was cooing in his arms. He quickly conjured a bottle for her and fed her before winding her
"Such a petit little thing you are, hm. Now, I promise you, papa Dumbledore will find you a home" He smiled and conjured a crib for her to rest in.
Dumbledore could ask the Potters to take in this sweet child, but they were expecting a son and he couldn't thrust a baby upon them.
He could give her to the Lupin-Blacks, but Remus has Lycanthropy and wouldn't be able to control himself on the rundown to the full moon.
The Longbottoms were expecting a child
The McKinnon-Meadows don't want children.
There was only one person who he could trust. His spy.
He sent a patronus and only moment's later, Severus Snape stood before him.
"You wished to see me." He stated
"Severus, my boy. I'm afraid i am running out of options. This here is Clover Weasley." Dumbledore said, picking up the small child
"They lost one? very well, I'll take her back to her mother-"
"-That's just the thing. Molly Weasley doesn't want her, she sent her to me to find her a family, but there is no one that could take her."
"So you are passing the child onto me? While I am a spy for you."
"I can watch her while you are there. Severus. I think she likes me" He smiled as she cooed. Severus rolled his eyes
"An orphanage is out of the question?"
"I have seen how one orphan can take over the world out of spite, I can't allow this to happen again. You need her Severus. And she needs you" Dumbledore said
"Clover? If I take her in, she will have a decent name. Not Clover."
"She will be your daughter."
"Fine, I'll take her." Severus said. Dumbledore smiled
"Excellent"
Severus appeared at home with the child in his arms. He sighed as he put down the Moses basket, provided by Albus.
He sat and looked at the girl, who was looking around curiously
"What am I going to do with you, hm?" He asked, looking at her.
"What about a name for you. Clover simply won't do. Sage? No, that is just my Slytherin pride. Octavia? No, far to Malfoyish. Elizabeth? Yes, I think that'll do."
"I'm talking to a baby." He said in realization. He sighed loudly and placed her in the Moses basket.
"Why did I agree to this? i don't know the first thing about raising a child."
Severus looked to the baby. He had to do his best.
The first thing he did was conjure everything a baby could possibly need as well as a book. A lot of books.
It didn't take long for Elizabeth to begin to cry. Severus looked to her utterly offended.
"Excuse me, little Miss. I am trying to find out how to look after you." He said, frowning at her, but her crying didn't cease. So, he picked her up and rocked her.
"What's up, hm? Are you hungry?" He asked them made a sour face as she felt damp.
"Alright, i guess you need a change and a feeding" He said and placed her on a changing mat and began to undress her, she let out a louder cry as she became colder.
"Oh, I know, I know." He told her as he quickly changed her diaper and conjured a bottle for her. She was still fidgety afterwards, so Severus sat her up and held her chin between his forefinger and his thumb, a muslin between her and his hand and rubbed her back. She had a bit of vomit, but he cleared that up immediately.
"You actually arent as bad as I thought you'd be." He told her as the sunset.
Severus found that he liked holding Elizabeth. She was good at listening, well, he knew she couldn't properly hear his voice, but he spoke to her anyway.
Severus had developed a routine by the end of her first month and as much as he hated to admit it, he was attached to this little girl. She may not be his by blood, but if anything were to happen to her, he'd tare down the earth and unleash unholy hell upon anyone who dared even look at her with malice.
"Come on Ellie, lets get you to sleep, hm?" Severus smiled at his daughter. She was a rather quiet baby, only cries when she needs feeding, winded, changed or wants attention, which is always, so the baby cries a lot.
The baby cooed as Severus gently rocked her. He smiled as she finally fell asleep. He placed her in her crib before sitting on his bed and picking up his book. Life was just a tiny bit easier with his daughter.
Daughter. He had never thought of her as his daughter, he always thought of her as a child that he was looking after. No, she was his daughter and he was proud to say that. He looked to the tiny red head.
"Well, it looks like I'll end up spoiling you." He smiled.
And he would. He would give that little girl whatever her heart desired, and he would do it forever and ever, just because he could.
Elizabeth Snape would never have to worry about not being loved or fed. Her dad would make sure that she was taken care of.
