*** Shawn Carter

"Mr.Carter, you are charged for assault as well as theft. How do you plead?"

"Not guilty," I said, licking my lips.

"Very well, let's proceed. Mr.Carter, please take the stand. Who's our witness?"

"I am," a tall, young man said.

Judge Hall nodded. "Thank you your honor."

The man walked towards me. "Mr.Carter, do you think it is appropriate to break into someone's home, unannounced?"

"No sir."

"So, why do you do it?"

"Look, I think this is just a misunderstanding."

"Yeah, and so is the Creation Story. My client says that you broke into her home, around 4:40 PM and not only did you break into her home, but you also physically assaulted her. What do you have to say for yourself?"

"Well, I think it's some bullshit. I ain't do it. That's all I have to say."

"Yeah, right. Now where were you on the day of March 14th, 2012?"

"Dude, it's May, I have no idea. I could've been in Jamaica, hell I don't know."

"And how did you get the money to go to Jamaica, Mr.Carter?"

"I've had a job, you know."

"Well it says here, on your resumé that the only thing you're good for is stealing, and beating people's behinds. Is that true Mr.Carter?"

"No ma'am."

"Have you spoken to a counselor about this?"

I sighed. "Yes lady."

"And when did this take place?"

"For God's sake, two weeks ago."

"And the victim said the robbery took place three weeks ago."

I slapped my forehead.

"I didn't do it."

"Can we have a wittiness?" Judge Hall questioned.

A tall, Indian woman stepped forward.

"I saw this young man breaking into the victim's home around 4:47 PM."

"I simply didn't do this shit!"

"OBJECTION. Your honor I think this young man should be sentenced to assault and theft."

The Judge banged her grovel onto the desk.

"Shawn Carter, sentenced to 4 months in the County Jail until further notice."

I shook my head. This is some bullshit.
