As soon as Dream got home, he headed straight to his room and checked his phone. George had texted him about what time to get to the party and what would be appropriate to wear. Dream rolled his eyes, he already knew what would be appropriate to wear, he's been to multiple parties. That was during a time of his life he regrets now though but nonetheless, he already knew what to wear.He pulled out a pair of ripped black jeans as well as a t-shirt to go with them. He put his phone into his back pocket. He headed downstairs, pulling on his shoes before calling for his sister. "What's up Dream?" Drista asked, running down the stairs to the front door.
"I'm– I'm going to a party," Dream stuttered out, lowering his gaze to the floor while rubbing the back of his neck with his hand.
"Wait– You're going where?!" Drista yelled, nearly dropping her phone on the ground.
"I'm going to a party, but I promise I'm not going to relapse! I'm going with a friend and I'll make sure he keeps me from drinking and drugs!" Dream reasoned, grabbing his hoodie from the couch it was draped on.
"Dream, promise me you won't drink or do drugs. Please," She nearly begged, tears began welling in her eyes.
"Drista.. Come here," he said, spreading his arms to hug his sister. Drista quickly made her way to her brother, nearly falling into his embrace as tears slowly streamed down her face.
"Drista I promise, I'm not going to drink or do drugs, I'm going with a friend and I'll tell him to make sure I don't," Dream said, combing through his sister's hair with his fingers, wiping the tears off her face.
"Promise?" She asked, her voice breaking slightly. "Promise," Dream replied, wiping the remaining tears from her face as she slowly let go of him.
"Now, I have to go but I'll be back later tonight," Dream said, kissing his sister's forehead to reassure her.
"Alright..bye Dream" Drista called out as her brother grabbed his set of house keys and left through the door.
Dream let out a quiet sigh as he closed the door behind himself, setting off down the street to a cafe near where he lives.
Once Dream made it to the cafe, he entered and sat at his usual table near one of the huge windows.
The cafe had a cozy vibe to it, the color scheme was mainly neutrals with a lot of browns. There were plants in every corner and every table had a flower centerpiece.
The door opened causing the little bell above it to ring, signaling that someone had entered the little cafe.
Dream looked to the door, noticing the man there was someone he recognized. He had black hair and was wearing a varsity jacket with the letter 'S' embroidered on the front and a number on the back.
Dream was confused at first before he recognized him as someone who was on the football team, assuming he was the captain. He and the ravenette locked eyes for a moment before he started walking toward Dream.
"Hey man, saw you on Wednesday hanging out with the brit, George, I'm pretty sure. Was wondering if you'd like to join the football team, captain asked me to ask you," the ravenette asked, sitting opposite Dream at the small table.
"Oh I uhm– I appreciate the offer a lot but, I'm not really that into sports. Sorry about that, we can hangout if you want though," Dream responded with a polite smile.
"All good man! Just wanted to see if you were interested and yeah sure, we can hangout." The ravenette said with a smile forming on his face. "I'm Sapnap by the way, you're Dream right?" The man–Sapnap–asked.
"Yeah I am, how'd you know?" Dream asked, leaning his face on his fist.
"I've seen you around, and most of the girls are raving on and on about you, saying you're 'super hot'," Sapnap answered, emphasizing on 'super hot' before letting out a small chuckle.
"No wonder I've been getting weird looks from some of the girls," Dream mumbled, pulling out his phone to check the time. "You wanna grab something to drink and then head to the party? Assuming you were invited," Dream said, standing up from his chair and pushing it in.
"Sure, we can take the long way to the party to stall time," Sapnap said with a cheeky smile, causing Dream to let out a small laugh.
They ordered their drinks and headed out. Sapnap started telling Dream about a few of the parties he'd gone to before, if anything got too crazy he'd usually leave so as to not get stressed or overwhelmed. Dream thought it was a reasonably good idea, saying as though some of the parties he's been to had gotten so out of hand the police had to get involved.
"Sapnap, can I ask a favor?" Dream asked cautiously, gazing down at the sidewalk. He was scared more than anything, this was the first party he was going to after being clean—after being sober—for nearly 2 years. The last thing he wanted was to relapse and throw all of that down the drain.
"Yeah, what's up man?" Sapnap inquired, casting a curious glance toward the blonde.
"Can you keep me from—from drinking? And can you also keep me from doing any drugs?" Dream asked, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. He was worried Sapnap would judge him.
"Of course! Is there a reason or do you just want to stay sober for the night?" Sapnap asked with a grin.
"There is a reason but I'd prefer not to share," Dream replied, glad that Sapnap agreed. "Alright, that's cool, man," Sapnap said.
Dream gave a nod of thanks, and they continued their walk to the party, making light conversation. Turns out they both had a lot in common and bonded pretty quickly.
It took them about 20 minutes, taking the longest route Sapnap could find via Google Maps, but alas they arrived at the party
