"I swear to god, Hyeju-"

Hyeju clutched her abdomen, her boy physically aching from how much she'd laughed. Chaewon hadn't seen her snowball coming and it'd been a clear shot at the back of her head that Hyeju just had to take. Chaewon had gotten a few good throws in, but no one could beat Hyeju in her own territory.

They'd disposed of their drinks after a while and taken a long way back to the house, the scenic route without any cars and a beautiful canopy of snow-covered trees. Here, walking on the sidewalk meant wading through a few feet of snow which was surely getting into Hyeju's shoes. Chaewon had laughed so hard when Hyeju had almost slipped, and Hyeju decided she needed to even the playing field a little.

Her snowballs were not as skilled as Hyeju's, which had been honed by the years she spent with her sister over the holidays, but Hyeju couldn't deny the one that had hit her cheek had been a little sore. Chaewon didn't intend to show mercy, so neither would she.

So she scooped up a pile of snow, made it into a ball, and chucked it at Chaewon's laughing figure.

Which had begun a snowball fight for the ages. Chaewon had shrieked and hurled threats so vulgar Hyeju's mouth fell open. Then there was an avalanche of snow directed at Hyeju's face and she'd been forced to find cover.

Hyeju had no idea how long they'd been at this, but she did know that her toes were starting to go numb and her nose stung from the cold. Despite her red fingers, Hyeju scooped up yet another handful of snow and pressed it firmly into a ball. She looked up, waiting for a break in Chaewon's aerial assault, and then took her aim.

It made contact with Chaewon's forehead, and the blonde stumbled. She turned her back on Hyeju, and Hyeju rejoiced in her victory, pumping her fist in the air.

Except then she saw Chaewon holding her face, and falling to her knees.

"Oh shit," Hyeju muttered. "Fuck..Chae?" The blonde didn't respond, and Hyeju came out from behind her tree, terrified she'd really hurt her. "Chae, please tell me you're okay. I'm sorry, I was too harsh, oh fuck-"

As she got closer, Chaewon began to shake, and Hyeju felt like crying. "Chae-"

Then a wall of snow hit her face, and Hyeju choked on air and tried unsuccessfully to block it. She coughed, snow going down the front of her jacket and sticking to her eyelashes. Chaewon had thrown an entire pile of snow right into her face.

"I FUCKING GOT YOU," Chaewon was cackling like a witch, thoroughly pleased with herself. Her cheeks were flushed pink and her eyes were sparkling. That's when Hyeju knew.

She was in love with Park Chaewon.

It didn't feel like a crushing weight like she thought it might. It was something easy, as natural as breathing. She wanted to do this every day for the rest of her life. See Chaewon smile, listen to her laugh. She didn't mind if it was her expense, as long as Chaewon looked at her. She'd do anything she could for Chaewon's attention, to spend all her time by her side. It didn't even feel like some big revelation. It was just her finally stepping back to see the bigger image clearly. Everything she was now, it because of Chaewon.

It was so clear, Hyeju had no idea how she hadn't seen it before.

Chaewon was still smiling widely. "What?"

"Chae," Hyeju spoke softly. "Can I..."

Chaewon stilled, looking wary. Hyeju took her hand and pulled her a little closer, till they were flush against each other. Both her hands found Chaewon's cheeks, admiring her face. Chaewon's attached to her wrists, but she didn't resist.
