"So this is our new home" the tall woman sighed as she plopped a homemade rug onto the floor. Her youngest girl rushing in with curious eyes as she admired the intricate on the center pillar.
I took note of a few things about the family. They were a significantly deeper blue than us and way thinner as well. With lanky limbs and slender tails. All of their hair was either braided or fashioned in dreadlocks where as our curly hair is usually braided or spilled over our shoulders.
What I found myself most drawn to was their eyes. They were bold and bright sun color that gleamed even in dimly lit room. They were interesting to look at.
"Yes! We both hope you all come to enjoy your stay...." Tsireya glared at me "Aren't we?" She snapped as she elbowed my arm and snapped me out of my idle thoughts.
"Ow! Yes, yes we are." I responded sourly.
Neteyam snickered a bit.
"Thank you, girls. What were your names again? I didn't quite catch them in all the chaos." The tallest man asked bouncing his shoulders and flashing a sheepish grin.
"I am Tsireya and this is my older brother, Announg. Our parents are the Olo'eyktan and the Tsahik, Tonowari and Ronal." Tsireya chirped as Announg made the "I see you" motion to the cerulean family, who reciprocated.
"And this is a good friend of ours, Kaia." Tsireya said gently pushing me closer to our guests.
I awkwardly dipped my head and quickly returned back to my previous spot.
The tall man chuckled a little.
"A little quiet now aren't you? Well it's nice to meet all of you. Thank you for your hospitality." The man turned to the remaining children behind him and signaled them to stand forward.
The one who previously greeted Tsireya eagerly made his way forward followed by a thin messy-haired girl, and of course Neteyam.
"My name is Jake Sully. This is my wife Ney'tiri" he lovingly said as he wrapped his arm around his wife.
The little girl shyly stepped forward from behind her fathers leg "This is my little girl, Tuk."
"Hello, you're both very pretty." She sweetly remarked. Tsireya waved at her and I gave her a brisk head nod.
"This is my other little girl, Kiri." Jake proudly said as he bought the girl in for a side hug, she playfully rolled her eyes at the sudden affection.
Jake patted the both girls shoulders and made his way over to his slender sons.
"And these two trouble-makers are my baby boys." Jake laughed pulling both boys in the crooks of his arms.
"Dad, come on" the shorter one embarrassingly whined trying to break free of his fathers grip.
Neteyam didn't seem to mind a gently squeezed his fathers arm with a friendly grin, no shame at all."This is my youngest boy, Lo'ak" The boy sneered at his fathers affection.
"And this is my eldest boy, Neteyam." Neteyam waved at us with a bright toothy smile all from his fathers arms.
I sneered a little, it wasn't the same cheeky smirk from the beach.
"It's a pleasure to meet all of you. We are very...excited to have you hear with us." Announg welcomed, forcing an unnatural tone out.
"My father and mother have decided to train you, Toruk Maktou and Ney'tiri around noon." He informed.
Tsireya continued "As for the rest of you younger ones, we will meet you bright and early tomorrow for your first diving lesson in the coral cove."
Tsireya then turned her attention to Lo'ak "Don't be late." She giggled.
"Thank you." Jake dipped his head and tapped the shoulders of his children "What do we say?"
"Thank you." They all said simultaneously.
Neteyam stepped forward a bit "Thank you." He enunciated.
Gross.
————————
"Toruk Maktou? Seriously?" Father excitedly gasped as he stopped dead in his tracks from sharpening some small blades.
"Yes, father; be careful you'll cut yourself." I muttered, shifting the blade away from his hand.
"Did you ask him?" Fathers voice grew more quiet as he leaned back to take the blades back "Maybe he knew your parents, more insight besides what you know from Tonowari and the clan."
I shook my head "No, I did not get a chance to, I was only showing them their home." I said taking a small price of rice paper out from a compartment in our floor.
"I don't think it's a good idea now that I think about, at least not now." I remarked as I began to mindlessly scribble on the sheet
"They just got here to escape war, it wouldn't be appropriate to bring it up." A small circle and ublong oval began to form on the page.
"Also, it would be strange for a person they don't know to ask such personal questions."
Form was given to the abstract shapes as well as some deepening shading."I don't know, I'll have to see. The children seem nice but one of them has a staring problem." Resemblance was given to the now Na'vi drawing and the sketch was complete as I rambled.
My father sat with a content smile and tilted his head, trying to hold back a snicker "It's so funny how you do that when you draw. You just talk and talk. Who's that supposed to be?"
I shrugged my shoulders "It's Nya, she was doing a kind of dance earlier when Toruk Maktou and his family came. I thought it looked interesting."
"It looks great sea slug, you haven't really found any time to draw lately, what with all your work and extra practicing." Father plucked the drawing from my hands and gazed at it fondly
"You should do it more often. You seem to enjoy this way more than hunting." He proudly gushed as he scooted slightly and stuck it to the corner of our home, among the others. I shook my head
"Thank you father but making drawings are not-"
"Useful. I know, I know, sea slug" he sighed "You and that word. Speaking of that, I actually do need your help today."
Father suddenly began to stand up with his creaky legs, I immediately went to his side and linked arms for support.
"Father, please be careful." I insisted.
"Pfft. I'm ok, sea slug." He scoffed as he began to limp to the other side of the home, to a decorative basket. He picked it and inside where newly decorated clam knives with deep blue weavings.
"We have a delivery to make!"
