Today exactly a week ago, Namjoon rushed out of the apartment. I jumped up and out of bed, quickly making my way towards the nearest bathroom. I've been struggling to keep my food down, all weekend. The familiar feeling of nausea shots up. I hurdle over the toilet, hair up in a messy bun. The door swung open. My sister-in-law stands tall in its frame. "Get dressed. I'm taking you to see our house doctor," she said. Not giving me a choice in the matter. I'm obligated to listen. I dressed up warmly and make my way downstairs.

After a few lefts and rights, taken in random, Priscilla pulled up on the Main Street and parked outside of Doctor Carter's office. I walked in and was absolutely relieved when I see an empty waiting area. I shadowed Priscilla as she walked over towards the receptionist. A petite woman, with curly salt and pepper hair smiled warmly at us. Spectacles resting on the bridge of her nose. "Good morning Prescilla. How are you doing on this cold Monday morning?" "A good morning to you too, Bonnie. I am doing good, thanks," she answered kindly. "Are you here to see Doctor Carter?" The receptionist asked my sister-in-law, eyebrows raised. "No, I'm as healthy as a horse; but she needs to see him," she answered while laying a hand upon my shoulder. The older woman nods her head in understanding and pushed some buttons on the keyboard. "Is she related?" She questioned as she glanced at me from over the rim of her glasses. "She's Daniel's youngest sister," Priscilla answered effortlessly. After a few more questions, she told her that we can go ahead. I have full faith that my dear sister knows the way to the doctor's examination room. Seeing how they know each other personally. We entered and sat down in a set of open chairs, waiting for Doctor Carter to return to his office.

After a short wait, a fairly attractive Doctor entered and closed the door behind him. His hair a shade darker than ash blonde, slightly messy, like he'd gelled his morning hair. Piercing blue eyes, reminds me of the ocean underneath the Summer sun's touch. A sharp jawline where yesterday's stubble breaks through flawlessly tanned skin. If I haven't already met my soulmate, I wouldn't think twice. The pictured photo frame on his desk informs me that he's not available. A happy little family of three stares back at me. The small girl in the picture can't be older than five. "Mrs. Jones, what brings you in on this cold Monday morning?" He asked with a bright smile. "I need you to give her a quick check up. Daniel thinks that his sister might have caught a stomach bug. She's been having trouble, keeping her food down," Priscilla explained my situation in little detail. He nodded. "Can you please lay down on the bed?" Obediently I did as I was told. He examined my stomach, raising an eyebrow in the process. "When was the last time that you were intemit, Miss Jones?" His question caught me completely off guard. What is he even implying? I answered honestly, not because I want to but because I have to. He motioned for me to sit back up. Gave me an empty tester and asked me to fill it up. I jumped up and went to the examination room's attached bathroom. After filling it up, I washed my hands. The hand soap smells like roses. I handed the container over and sat down beside Priscilla. He test the urine and show me a positive Clearblue test, indicating that I'm one week pregnant. I've been with only one man as of resently. Namjoon!

Doctor Carter wrote something down in his notebook and asked me random stuff, such as: Whose the father? If I have any incomes? And other related questions. His final question had me looking up and staring straight into his blue orbs. "Where do you currently work, Miss Jones?" I answered, "I'm a professor at Yale university. I'll be flying back home this weekend." He shook his head in a disapproving manner. "I highly recommend that you stay put, at least until your second trimester," said he. I'm still processing all of this. I know that Namjoon's baby is growing within my womb yet it still feels so surreal. Doctor Carter prescribed some medicine for the nausea, Folic acid and multivitamins. Informing me how I'm to take it with breakfast and how I'm only to use the nausea tablets when it's necessary. He looked down at his calendar and gave me an appointment card for the 10th of August, asking me to come back for a follow up appointment.

On our way home, Priscilla and I passed it in silence. We reached home quickly. While she informed my brother about what happened in Doctor Carter's examination room, I made my way upstairs and lay down on my bed. It didn't take Daniel all that long to join me either. He sat down at the edge of my bed. "You're not going back this weekend," he told me. I should have seen this one coming. I sat up straight, "I have to and the university is waiting on my return. I need to see him. I miss him." I know that he meant well. "What about the rental car, I've only paid up until this weekend and I haven't packed enough clothes by half." What started out as a question ended more on a statement. "I understand, Sam, but I'm thinking about your safety." I nodded in understanding. He told me how he would return the car and that Priscilla will take me shopping. He also informed me that he would give the university a call and shed some light on the recent change of events. It won't count in my defence if I'm to argue about this, he has a point and I know it.
