Chapter 10

2 weeks later
Harvey and I have both settled into our lives now, both with more responsibilities. We've made plans to meet at the end of the month. Harvey is flying down and I get to show him around.
Dr Cavanaugh is an amazing boss. I'm loving the job, the apartment and everything about it. The fellowship is a lot more work though. Dr C even lets me shadow him as Chief of Surgery, so I could get some pointers, and I help him out with administrative work.
Made a new friend as well. Dr Micheal Moscovitz, another fellow, who graduated from Stanford. We hang out pretty often in the cafeteria and we're going to get drinks tonight.
I get a call from Alex and I answer it, hey Alex how's work?
Alex: Ehh it's okay. Being an ADA doesn't really do much but pay the bills. Maybe I should take a private sector job lol it just sounds easier.
Sounds rough, you need any help, ask alright?
Alex: Yeah you got it, just wanted to check in on my fave.
Hey I gtg, I'm getting another call.
Hey Steph, been a while, how's the fashion law world? She's works as a lawyer for a lot of top actresses and fashion artists.
Stephanie: Yeah it pays the bills dude. Nothing fancy. So how's our hottie doc doing?
Oh you mean Mike? Yeah he's cool, we're getting drinks later tonight.
Stephanie: Woah, pump the brakes. Does Hottie Husband know about Doc Hottie?
Well, I just mentioned in passing, but the drinks we decided only today, so I guess not? Besides Mike knows I'm married.
Stephanie: Yeah sweetheart that's not going to stop them. Just be careful okay? You have a good thing, don't ruin it like me.
You know Steph, you could just call and apologise to him. He misses you too.
Stephanie: That's not happening. But did he say that?
I know him well enough, Steph.
Stephanie: Yeah yeah, I gotta bounce doc, lemme know how your drinks goes. Bye.
Bye.

I get another call from med school friends-George and Lily. Just calls after calls today.
George: Hey Violet, we saw your article in Scientific American, it was brilliant. I'm so jealous you're working with Cavanaugh.
George is doing his fellowship at Mass Gen and Lily at Columbia Presbyterian.
Lily: Harvey also posted the cutest pic of you guys, we're so happy for you. And Cavanaugh must be such an amazing mentor right?
For sure, its really amazing here. Yeah I thought the article was a bit much, I didn't really contribute that much. Dr C gave me a lotta credit.
George: I'm sure that's not true. Hey and this Mike guy working with you right? I asked around, he was kinda a player in med school it seems. He was in top 5 of his class however, so he's smart and arrogant.
Woah, really? Well, he seems fine to me in person.
Lily: Just be careful, V. You and Harvey have an amazing thing.
I well uhhh yeah of course. Thanks guys, it was a fun catching up. Next week, same time?
You got it, V. Bye Violet, see you!
I cut the call and lost in my thoughts when I get a text.

Mike-J Hopkins: Hey, drinks at Elk Room at 8?

At this point, I honestly wasn't sure if I wanted to get drinks but I just shoot him with a quick okay.
I get another text from Harvey, but I couldn't see it because I got paged back to work.
After my shift was done, I go down to the parking lot. Yeah I finally bought myself my dream car-Volvo XC40 SUV. Its been my childhood dream to get it and I was finally able to afford it. Just as I'm ready to get in, Mike stops me.
Hey, do you need a ride to the bar?
No I'm good, I'll see you there. Suddenly there was an uncomfortable silence between us.
Cool car he says and walks away.
I use the Bluetooth in the car and call Harvey.
Hey V, sorry I was slammed with work today, some partner ship stuff came up. Can we talk next week sometime freely?
Yeah okay, sounds good.
How was work? Dr C treating you okay?
Oh, he's amazing. The co workers are great as well.
That's great, V.
Speaking of co workers, I'm getting drinks with one tonight.
Oh that's nice, is it Marcy? You said you guys were bonding well.
It's a he actually. Umm its Mike, well umm Micheal Moscovitz.
Okay you remember you're married right?
Come on, Harvey.
Why drinks? Why doesn't he want to get coffee in the middle of the day if he wants to get to know you that badly huh?
Okay, calm down, Harvey. It's just drinks. I got to go.
Wear the wedding ring and send me a pic.
