At Seattle
I woke up vomiting 4 days this week. That's not a good sign. I haven't had any food from outside. Oh crap. Crap. Could I be pregnant? Damn it. I start my job in 2 days. No, this can't be happening. No no no. I get a pregnancy test from the 7-11 near our house and wait for it.
Those two waiting minutes changed my life -for the better.

Two lines. I was pregnant. The first female chief comes to work pregnant. Great. I decided to get a blood test to confirm it before I scared Harvey. I had a kit at home. I sent it to the lab, requested for an emergency report. Harvey was off at work so I had to break the news in the evening, if any.
I got my result back in an hour. I was pregnant. Shit, I don't know how we were going to handle this. I go out and buy a few things to break the news to Harvey.
He came back at 7, and I ask him to sit down. Harvey, here I got you a gift. Inside the bag, there was a mug , a cap and a t shirt which said World's Greatest Father.
WHAT?! WE'RE PREGNANT?! ARE YOU FR?
Yup and I show him the report. Wait was this from that night? The Four seasons, night of the farewell party. I think so. Harvey, I'm just starting my job and so are you. How is a baby gonna fit into this now?
Don't freak out, V. We'll figure it out. Look, explain our situation to Webber, he's not gonna give your job away just because you're pregnant. Look call Dr Webber now itself.
Maybe, you have a point.
I call Dr Webber.
Hey Violet, nervous about tomorrow?
No Chief, wanted to talk to you about something.
Yes?
Actually I just found out I'm pregnant today. I know this is the worst time and my husband and I weren't even trying. It just happened I know it's really bad timing since I would have to take 3 months off after the birth of my child. I know this isn't what you expected either.
Violet, please calm down. We're not gonna fire you just because you're pregnant. Family is an integral part of life. Look we'll ask one of the senior doctors to step in. Just befriend one of them in your time, so there won't be too many problems. The job will be yours until the day you decide to retire.
Really? That's a load off, thank you so much, Chief.
You're the Chief now, kiddo.

Soooo, job isn't a problem. He said we can figure it out. I guess we can be happy about this now?
I always was. Look it's as though the universe decided for us. We said we'd talk about kids when we moved in together, which is basically now.
You're right. I guess we should call and tell our parents as well.
already did, they're all waiting for you on video call.
I love you, Harvey. I'm glad our kid is gonna have you as a dad.
I love you too, V. I hope the kid gets your brains and my looks. Kidding, your looks too!
