Adoption

"We can adopt her." Jinx stood there for several moments just staring at the two before she shook her head.

"Yeah no, repeat what you said, I zoned out for a moment."

"We can adopt her Jinx. She can't stay with you because you still have classes and you live in a single apartment and you don't have the cleanest record-"

Jinx scoffed, "Neither do you! I said I would change all of that-"

"And that doesn't change how the court would view you as unsuitable. Jinx this is the best way for this, just hear us out." Caitlyn interrupted this time and while Jinx glared at her she didn't speak and that allowed Vi to continue.

"On paper we would be her legal guardians and she would live with us. You can come by whenever and see her and if you want you can even keep her on the weekends."

Jinx did understand what they were saying and it honestly seemed more than fair, but it still felt wrong, not living with her little rogue all the time. It was only a couple of months they were together but it was great.

"Jinx there's a lot that goes into taking care of a kid that you couldn't do and probably would have trouble with," Vi nudged her girlfriend to make the points and Caitlyn rolled her eyes.

"Balanced meals, constant supervision, doctoral and dental care, along with schooling, stability, structure, positive role models, emotional support and social opportunities."

As the list went on Jinx felt every word Caitlyn said targeting her and the way she and Lilith lived happily before. It wasn't a happy feeling to know she couldn't give her kid everything she needed and instead had to depend on Vi and Caitlyn to do so.

"Okay, okay, I get it." She grumbled out while glaring at the floor, she didn't even notice the pitying faces that the other two had. They truly could see the positive influence that Lilith had on Jinx, and seeing as though Lilith was recorded as having run away from a temporary home that was found unfit for children when reviewed, Jinx was much better than where she was living beforehand.

"Just... promise me that you won't ever stop me from seeing her if I might do something you disapprove of." Jinx's voice lost its edge and sounded weak as she asked but Caitlyn's eyebrows furrowed as she didn't like the sound of that, but before she could say anything Vi patted her back and agreed.

"Long as we're the only one's disagreeing and you didn't break any laws, then sure. She's your kid after all." Vi's point really seemed to stick with her sister as she sucked in a breath before nodding.

"She is..." she spoke breathlessly before she looked back up with a grin and slightly wet eyes. "That's my daughter."

Vi gave a sharp squeeze to Caitlyn's waist, but the other girl did the same back in understanding. She had never seen Jinx look so relieved or happy before, and she could guess it might've been a long time since Vi saw her like that too. She bit her lip before stepping forward and opening her arms. Jinx seemed to hesitate but after a second she accepted it and let her older sister pull her into a tight hug.

Caitlyn couldn't help but melt at the sight. Vi had been desperately searching for ways to reconnect with her distant younger sister, especially since Jinx decided to become completely independent and only reacted to Vi if the older girl made some effort. Even though Caitlyn had no intentions of raising a child so soon (even if she thought of the possibility one day) seeing those two like that already made Lilith worth it.
