"Y-you don't want me?" There were a lot of tears while Jinx was explaining that Lilith wouldn't actually be staying with her. It was an arrangement set up for both of their best interests.

"No no no, rogue that's not true." She glanced back at her sister and her girlfriend before back at the kid. It took them only a minute to understand and leave the room together. She made sure to wait a moment before continuing.

"Listen, I know what this seems like, but I want you to stay with me so bad it drives me nuts. You're my kid, I haven't taken care of you for this long just to give you away... but the truth is that I can't afford to keep you anymore."

"What we were doing..." she leaned forward to whisper, "It was kinda illegal, and I could've gone to jail." Lilith gave a gasp and Jinx nodded solemnly. She truly was lucky that Vi and Cait understood her enough to not think the worst. And that they were willing to go this far for her.

"It's their fault, isn't it? Aren't they cops?" Jinx's eyes went wide.

"No, well I mean yes they're cops, but they're good cops, and they'll be taking care of you!"

"They're taking me from you! I don't want them to! I wanna stay with you!"

"I live in an apartment close to my school. The apartment only has one bedroom and isn't very big. A kid like you needs her own bedroom, I can't give you that. And when I go to school I always had to leave you home alone. I know you never minded, but that's not okay either. And you should definitely be having more than just some food I either order or microwave all the time."

"But... but..."

"Vi's my older sister, I promise you can trust her. She's a bit annoying, but I'm also glad that she's the person you're going to be with. Caitlyn is definitely a stick in the mud, but she's also a good person. And whenever I'm not at school or busy, I promise I'll come to pick you up. You're still my kid. Vi and Cait know that, you and I know that, who cares what a stupid piece of paper says?"

The little girl sniffed as Jinx pulled her into a hug. "Nobody." She muffled and Jinx nodded.

"Yeah nobody."
