There had been a pit in my stomach every time Neteyam looked at me that day. The good kind that only came from anxious anticipation.

I felt stupid, because three hours before eclipse and I was rifling through the bags of clothes I had brought with me wondering what I was going to wear.

It's not like we really wore anything to begin with.

The clothes we made were minimal, made with things we found in the environment around us so that we had little impact on the environment.

"Thought I might find you in here."

I looked up from the bag and found Neytiri standing inside the entrance, a bundle of neatly folded cloth in her hands.

"What's that?" I asked pulling myself from the useless bag of clothes and walked to her, studying the bound cloth in her hands.

"I had a feeling you'd be needing something for a special... occasion tonight." Her smile was soft as she handed over the bundle.

I took it gently in my hands, sitting on the floor to open it. Neytiri sat down in front of me, looking between the cloth and me expectantly.

I carefully unfolded the cloth and my heart stopped in my chest.

The garments were the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. Beads and soft woven metal braided together to create a delicate roots that would cover my breasts and a portion of my abdomen. The loin cloth was crafted from soft leather and Loystal wings.

"How did you...?" I looked up at her in amazement. We hadn't told anybody.

"I overheard Neteyam asking his father for advice." She laughed softly before running her fingers over the bead work. Whites and purples and blacks.

"I don't know what to say..." tears brimmed my eyes, my emotions overpowering me.

"You don't have to say anything." She wiped a tear as it fell onto my cheek. "I couldn't have asked Eywa for a more perfect mate for my son. You are passionate, intelligent and a mighty hunter. You are everything I could have hope for, for my son."

I found my arms around her neck and hugged her tightly.

"Thank you."

"You know I'd do anything for my daughters."

Daughter.

That's what I would be by tomorrow morning.

I pulled away and wiped the tears from my eyes, taking deep breaths to keep myself from crying more than I already have.

"Can we come in now?" Tuk poked her head from around the entrance and I laughed. I opened my arms and She through herself at me. Kiri walked in behind her.

"Eavesdropping, Tuk?" I asked as she released herself from the death grip she calls a hug.

"I couldn't help it!" She frowned as she defended herself, crossing her arms over her chest.

"I'm glad you're here, you can help me do my hair."

She smiled the brightest smile I'd ever seen her give and immediately started unbraiding my hair.

Neteyam waited for me at one of the Metkayina's sacred sites. It was like our Tree of Voices, back in the forest, located on another island. I rode Seraph over to the island just before Eclipse, arriving when the sun disappeared behind the moon.
