Chapter 2.

Athena's POV

"We'll all be on Aro's list now. Centuries on the run. That's what you've brought me. Some friend, Carlisle." Alistair said, he was one of Carlisle's friend from I have no clue where. "Alistair, come meet everyone" Carlisle said. "I already told you, if it comes to a fight, I won't stand against the Volturi" he's stubborn, I hope it won't come down to a fight.

"It won't come to a fight" Carlisle says but we both know that's a lie, the Volturi don't talk when a rule has been broken. That's why I know when I go to the Volturi I'm not leaving with Kate and them. I don't know what's going to happen when they see me when we 'talk' with then in a few days. "I'll be in the attic" Alistair says. We watch as Alistair jumps up onto the roof and he walks off in the attic.

"Not a people person?" I ask, Esme looks at me and smiles "Nope". The Cullens opened they're home to 18 vampires. Many with gifts of their own. Zafrina had power over the mind. She could make anyone see what she wanted them to.

We watch as Zafrina makes Edward see something in the forest "If she weren't holding my hand right now, I could swear this was real" he says to Bella, she looks confused and so am I. "I don't see anything" Bella says, only he could.

"Edward, you didn't tell me your wife is a shield" I look at Eleazar with a confused face "What's a shield?" I ask, Bella looks at me with the same confused face. Edward looks confused but then he looks at Bella and smiles. "The ones I've met are so different." I'm still confused.

Eleazar seems to tell I'm still confused so he said "It's a defensive talent" I give him a 'ohhhhh' face. "It's why I couldn't read Bella's mind, even before. It's why Aro couldn't" makes sense. "You have a very powerful gift" Elezar says. Suddenly I see Kate grab Bella's hand. "Oh, yeah, she's a shield, all right. Shoulda put her on her ass" I shake my head and walk beside Kate, she's going to do something.

"Or your voltage has been exaggerated" Garrett says, I look at him with a 'Your a dumbass' look. "Maybe it only works on the weak" Kate says confidently. Kate puts her hand up, daring Garrett to try and touch her. "Garrett, I wouldn't" I say, Garrett touches his finger to Kate's hand, he's instantly electrocuted and falls to the ground. He looks up at her with amazement on his face. "You are an amazing woman" Kate smiles and looks at me. "He's right" I say. She just laughs.

I see everyone looking towards the woods, Kate looks at me, grabs my hand and runs towards the things they all heard. We come to a stop and see to vampires, one with white hair and one with dark brown hair "Vladimir, Stefan, you're a long way from home" Carlisle knows these vampires.

"What are they doing here?" Kate asks then grabs my arm and short of pushes me behind her. "Who are they" I ask, Kate looks at me then says "The one with the white hair that's Vladimir and the other one is Stefan" I just nod "We heard the Volturi were moving against you. But that you would not stand alone" Vladimir said. "We didn't do what we were accused of"

"We do not care what you did, Carlisle" Vladimir says. He looks at me and smiles creepily "We have been waiting a millennium for the Italian scum to be challenged" after the other one is done talking, Vladimir says something to Stefan which I know everyone can here except me. Kate growls and pushes me more behind her.

Carlisle then says "It's not our plan to fight the Volturi" Vladimir smiles a little "Shame. Aro's witnesses will be so disappointed" Stefan adds "They enjoy a good fight" I look at Carlisle, "Aro's witnesses?" Eleazar asks. "Aww. Still hoping they'll listen?" Vladimir says with fake pity in his voice

We are now back at the Cullens and it's dark outside "When Aro wants someone from a coven it's never long before evidence turns up proving that coven committed some crime" Eleazar says explaining, "So he's done this before?" Bella asks. I'm not surprised, I knew something was going to go wrong. "It happens so rarely, I never realized it was a pattern" Eleazar says, he seems like he actually didn't know.

"Apparently he always pardons one person whose thoughts he claims are repentant" Carlisle says, Aro is an Evil man no wonder Kate didn't want to take me. "This is all about Alice. He has no one like her" Edwards right, he doesn't have Alice. He will never will get her. "Which is why she left" Exactly.

"Why does he need witnesses?" Emmett asks, "To spread the word that justice has been served. After he slaughters an entire coven" Alistair says, I hate it here. I should have stayed, I should have gotten Kate to stay with me. "Benjamin, Tia, we're leaving" Amun say. Leaving!

"And where will you go? What makes you think they'll be satisfied with Alice? What's to stop them from going after Benjamin next? Or Zafrina or Kate or anyone else with a gift? Anyone they want. Their goal isn't punishment, it's power. It's acquisition. Carlisle might not ask you to fight, but I will. For the sake of my family. But also for yours. And for the way you want to live" Ok wow, way to say it Edward

There's a moment of silence as the vampires look at each other, then Jacob stands "The packs will fight. We've never been afraid of vampires" that makes one us, My family stands "We will fight" Tanya says. Kate grabs my hand and whispers in my ear, "I'll make sure no one gets near you" I nod hugging Kates side. "This won't be the first time I fought a king's rule" I laughed a bit. "We'll join you" Benjamin says.

"No!" Amun protested, "I will do the right thing, Amun. You may do as you please" Benjamin says, good for Benjamin. "We will stand with you" Senna says, this is great I think everyone is going stand with us at this point. "So will we" Siobhan also says. other vampire start to step forward, "That didn't take much" Vladimir says to Stefan.

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that" let's hope Edward "We'll see" yes we will Alistair. I hope it doesn't come down to a fight.
