"Komaeda Nagito, I hereby sentence you to a public execution,"

"Whaaat? Because I stole a few things from people who didn't need them? Look, your highness, I have an offer for you,"

"An offer?"

"Yes. But I'll only tell you if the guards leave this room,"

The king nodded. "I must say, I'm curious. Guards, leave!" He commanded and they listened.

Just a few minutes later, both Komaeda and the king left the room. "Komaeda Nagito is now a free man. All charges against him are dropped,"

"Wh-what?" A guard stuttered. "What offer did he make?"

"A satisfying one," Was the only thing the king said. No one ever found out what the offer was.

"So? What was it?" Hinata asked.

"I give you three guesses," Komaeda said.

"Uh... it must have been extremely good. Maybe... you'd work as a thief for him?"

"No,"

"Oh, I know! You'd protect him!"

Komaeda shook his head. "I couldn't even protect myself from people like you talking to me, how would I protect a whole king?"

"You could be a bit more grateful, you know? I gave you a new chance at life and all,"

"You're suspicious and I still don't trust you. But you only have one more guess,"

"Give me a hint,"

"Fine. It was something very simple. An act of service, one might say,"

"An act of service? You... cleaned the whole castle,"

"Boooring! And false too,"

"Tell me, I wanna know!"

"Maybe once I trust you,"

"Deal!"

"That wasn't even a deal..."

"Why do you wanna not trust me so bad?"

"I barely know you. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't." He put the plates on the table.

Hinata began to eat. "I guess that's true. I'm gonna go run some errands after breakfast. Wanna come with me?"

Komaeda nodded. "Alright. I have to get some stuff too,"

"You're gonna steal again?"

"Of course. I don't have anything,"

"Oh, I almost forgot." Hinata got up and left. A few seconds later, he came back and put an outfit on the table. "Change into this, okay? Your clothes are old and dirty,"

"Srop making fun of my clothes..." Komaeda complained. He then left to put on the new clothing. He couldn't lie, this felt much more comfortable because there was no dirt on it. It was also warmer and actually fit him, unlike the way too big shirt he stole from some old man one day a few years ago.

usually I don't put outfit pictures here but I had that drawing anyway so I might as well use it.

They finished breakfast and put on their shoes. Hinata wore a coat and then handed Komaeda a long, red cloak with a hood.

"I... can't accept all of this,"

Hinata put it around his shoulders and closed it with the little chain at the front.

"Sure you can. Why not?"

"Because,"

"Because?"

Komaeda opened the door and left. Hinata followed him and grabbed his wrist. "Don't run away, damn. We're not gonna walk,"

"I won't ride your horse again! That was uncomfortable,"

Hinata clapped his hands together and a couch walked out of his house on four legs. "We don't have to." He sat down and so did Komaeda.

"Are you a wizard?"

"No, a friend of mine is. She gave me that couch. Now, bring us to the market," He said and it began to walk. Komaeda pulled his legs to his chest and looked around. The kingdom Hinata lived in was much nicer than his old, trashy kingdom. There were people playing music and carriages being pulled by horses.

"Oh, this is such a beautiful place to live!" Komaeda said, smiling.

The couch stopped and they got off. Hinata handed Komaeda some money. "Buy whatever you want with this. In an hour, we'll meet here again,"

"How will I know when an hour has passed?"

"It's around nine now, when the clock strikes ten, the church bells ring,"

"Ah, you even have a church here?"

"Yeah,"

"I see. Uhm, this doesn't mean I trust you. None of this does," He said.

"Alright. Then see you later." Hinata left.

Komaeda felt a bit bad. Hinata gave him clothes and money too now. Suddenly, a huge bear stopped in front of him. No one really seemed scared. It was odd, but Komaeda just assumed the bears here weren't dangerous then. This bear was also black and white. Komaeda hesitantly pet it. The bear flopped onto his back like a dog. Komaeda smiled and rubbed his belly.

"Do you have a name?" He asked. The bear obviously didn't reply. "Hm... what about... Monokuma?" It seemed happy at that. "Alright, I'll take that as a yes! Hm... are you hungry? Stay here, I'll buy you a snack,"

Monokuma patiently waited until Komaeda came back with some food for him. He fed it to the bear and pet his head. "I have to go now, Monokuma. I wanna get to know this place a bit. We'll see each other again for sure." He smiled and then left. He still had a bit of money and saw a fancy-looking dagger in a store. He decided to buy it. Komaeda also bought a holster and tied it to his arm.

The church bells rang a while later and Komaeda went to the place they promised to meet up at. Hinata sat there on his walking couch and Komaeda sat down next to him. It walked them home.

"Did you buy anything?"

"Food for a bear,"

"A bear?"

"Yep. He looked hungry,"
