The two stood there together, peering over the balcony as The Doctor exhaled a stream of smoke. He kept his distance from Alchemy, he did not want her to be harmed by his habit.
❝Smoking's bad for you, y'know. Have you considered quitting? It may be the best for you, there's many terrible side effects..❞
❝Ah.. yes. I'm aware, but I always come right back to it. At least I don't do it everyday. Not anymore.❞ The male nodded, keeping a solemn expression.
❝Doctor? Where are we going to go from here? Is there truly a place of exit? It'll soon be my time. My time to go back home. I mean, don't get me wrong, I've loved our time together, but-❞
❝Alchemy?❞ The Doctor turned to face her suddenly.
❝Yes?❞
❝My dearest, didn't I tell you to relax?❞
❝Yes...you did. But it's so difficult. Everything around us happening so fast, like time changed. I've even failed to ask-
How are you doing?❞
The Doctor felt his body tense. Why was she asking this all of a sudden? Was she that worried about him?
❝I'm alright.❞
❝Then why did you run off so fast? It seemed like you needed to get out of that room awfully quick. I can understand cravings and a need for air, but was it something I said?❞ Alchemy tilted her head at him.
❝No, of course not! Though...truthfully, I am having odd thoughts. I prefer to keep them to myself until I can fully understand them. Alright? I will be okay.❞
❝Okay, I understand.❞
...
❝We'll find a way out. Okay? Just for you, I'll get you back home, safe and sound.❞
❝Will you come with me?❞
...
❝We'll see.❞
...
...
The two had made their way back to the room a short while after their chat, getting comfy into their beds, and turning off the lights.
❝Good night to you, Alchemy. Sleep well, I'll be here if you need anything.❞
❝Thank you, Doctor, good night to you too. Sweet dreams, if any.❞ She sort of laughed as she laid there, still and eyes wide open, facing the door.
The Doctor fell silent and before she knew it, Alchemy's eyes were drooping shut.
Yet, what felt like 5 minutes later, she opened them widely. Although, it was late, very late in fact, and she heard something stir.
Something on the other side of the room's door. Someone.
Alchemy carefully shifted, turning to see if The Doctor was still there - he was.
She turned back, swallowing nervously. Should she get up and check out the peephole? Should she ignore it and pretend to be asleep? The door was locked but she didn't feel any safer, honestly.
Huffing, she decided to "just face it!", as she threw back the covers and carefully got to her feet. She looked around, seeing if anything around them could be used as a weapon. Nothing to her true interest except a coat hanger. Alchemy quickly grasped it, holding it up in a defensive way, as she approached the door.
She stopped short of the door, shaking lightly. She realized that she was a bit short to look out the peephole. Odd, since she was average height. It must've been made for tall individuals...
Alchemy swallowed again, before gently pressing her ear to the door, listening intently.
Breathing.
...
❝Aly.❞
Alchemy froze, wide-eyed, mouth slightly agape.
She about pissed herself.
