banter

Dream was editing a video on the couch, therefore, George was pissed.
He had been in Florida for less than three months and, sure, they had gone places together and had their fair share of fun along with Sapnap, but now that Nick was away with his family for New Year's and they were finally alone was Dream going to ignore him and edit his silly little video in silence? There is just no way on Earth.
But George isn't blatant, he doesn't like Dream knowing how much he enjoys his attention and doesn't want him to think he's desperate. Because he's actually not, he's just bored, and Dream, his best friend, is doing nothing to help. And that just doesn't sit right with George.

-Dream, look at this!- he thinks about something random to do to justify his words but nothing comes to mind so he just lets out a loud fart and starts giggling while sitting next to Dream on the couch. Dream doesn't exactly react, or acknowledge his presence at all; he's so focused on his pc that George almost feels guilty about trying to distract him. Instead, he starts observing him, closer now.
The way he slowly blinks, lips closed tightly and eyes never leaving the screen. His hands are on the keyboard and he's typing fast and focused and the effect is almost mesmerising. George would never admit it, but he loves it when Dream proves how deep his passion for anything can be. He'd stare at him for hours and he doesn't think that's weird. It's just nice to see and he'd think the same about anyone.

After a couple minutes Dream finally looks up and notices how close George is to him. He slightly smiles at him and takes in a deep breath.
-Hey, sorry for ignoring you earlier, I just really wanted to finish editing. Did you do anything interesting at all other than staring at me?-
-I wasn't staring...- Dream giggles in response -oh my god, you're actually an idiot.-
-How am I the idiot? You literally spent the afternoon walking around the house like a dog.-
-Yeah 'cause I thought we were doing something! Literally anything! You know how long you've been sitting here without moving?-
-Come on, I'm sure it wasn't that long, right?- Dream looks slightly confused and George has to remind himself how intense hyper-focusing can be to not think he's playing dumb.
-Clay, it's not a problem, it was just more time than I expected.-
-I'll make it up to you, what if I cook and we watch Harry Potter later?-
-You're so dumb.-
They smile at each other and Dream gets up to go to the kitchen and start preparing something for the both of them to eat.

The sixth Harry Potter movie  is playing on the TV but neither Dream or George are giving it any attention. They're both on the couch again, eating and talking and wheezing loudly. George knows some parts of the movie by heart and keeps quoting random sentences out of the blue in a deep voice to scare Dream. Dream laughs every time and makes fun of literally every character that comes to screen. Sometimes they just start a conversation during boring scenes and keep talking for a bit, the movie playing in the background, not really important to either of them. A couple times they even stop it to finish talking, confident they are gonna give it attention afterwards, never really succeeding.

-I think you'd love Percy Jackson, why don't you give it a chance?- Dream is petting Patches while talking and his hand moves so smoothly George just has to stare at it, distracted.
-Uhm, I reckon I will, at some point. I just think maybe I'm a bit too old to fully enjoy it.-
-Still, it's worth a try.- Now he's leaning forward to pat Patches properly and she is so loving it.
-Then maybe I could also write some self insert Annabeth fanfiction.- George observes Dream's reaction carefully. He thinks he knows what he's just done, but he's not gonna speak first after this one. No sir.
-Why do you think it was a Annabeth self insert one?- Ok, so George just did exactly what he thought he did. This is intense.
-Was it about Percy?- Dream avoids his gaze and just scrolls his shoulders.
-Of course, he's just the coolest.- They leave it at that and don't speak for a bit after. It's not even awkward, just a bit tense.

On the screen, Harry approaches Ginny in the Room of Requirement and they slowly move closer to each other. George simply cringes; that kiss has always made him uncomfortable, it's just excessively fake.
-This kiss is just so awkward I hate it.-
-You hate it?- Dream giggles -that's such a strong feeling for this shit.-
George stops the TV right when Harry and Ginny's lips join -Look at their lips! Omg this is actually epic, his lips are under her nose and hers are like on his chin, this is so bad they can't even find each other's lips.- Dream is wheezing at the stupidity of the moment but George is dead serious. -No, listen, this is not a laughing matter. This is terrible.-
-Come on George it's not THAT horrible, it's just a bit misplaced.- They both giggle.
-I bet for your standards that's a great kiss.-
-George, come on, you'd love to know.-
-I just implied you don't know how to kiss, how does that make sense? You're actually so dumb.- But he is a bit flustered and has no way to hide it. He just gets flustered for stuff like this, it's not like he's actually blushing or anything.
-How would you know when I literally know for a fact you haven't kissed anyone in at least two years? Like how are you a better kisser.-
-Now it's you that would like to know uh, like literally.- That's not a great answer but George's mind is literally imploding right now and this is the best he could pull out of it to avoid sounding too dumb. Not that he's doing a great job.
-I would, actually. You're so cocky about it.- Dream says this in full seriousness, staring deadass in George's eyes.
George stares back. He's not intimidated at all. He's already kissed Karl, and it's not like he has no experience at all. He likes kissing and it's not like he thinks they're never gonna kiss, with Dream. It's just something that will eventually happen and there is no benefit in post-poning it.

Dream is sitting close to him and they're both facing each other, involved in the conversation. George places a hand on Dream's hoodie and gently but decisively pulls it towards him, moving Dream's face closer to his. -Alright.- But Dream doesn't have any time to react because George is already pressing his lips against his. Dream is evidently surprised but doesn't reject him and George doesn't have a single thought in his mind, maybe considering Dream's words weren't serious and he wasn't actually suggesting they should kiss. George doesn't care, not when Dream's lips are so pleasing and start slowly parting to introduce his tongue in his mouth. George physically feels his stomach turning around in indescribable roller coasters as Dream positions his hand on George's waist and he takes it as an invite to move on top of him.
At this point they're fully making out and George is sat on Dream's thighs. Their lips part for a second and George tries to unsuccessfully hold down a sound. Dream notices it and smiles as the kiss gets more intense, just to part lips again after a couple seconds and kiss George's upper-neck, making him shiver. George can't hold it anymore and lets out a moan. Dream suddenly stops any movement, like he's been awaken from a fever dream. He moves his head a couple inches from George's, who at this point feels physically sick being so far from his lips. He's not thinking straight and can't even begin to understand what just happened. Dream, on the other hand, does.
-George, I was kidding. I wasn't actually asking for a kiss.-
George is flabbergasted. He's fucking sitting over here moaning on top of the guy, hand on his hips and wet lips, and he's saying he didn't want this kiss? What the actual fuck? Is this actually happening?
-Dream, what the hell? You didn't want this? Then why'd you grab my waist, why'd you start kissing my neck?- He moves from his legs and gets up, now seriously mad. This is absolutely insane.
-George, I don't know, you just moaned!-
-Yeah, I did, so what? You were leaving a fucking hickey on my neck! Is that okay then?- Dream looks seriously upset by this.
-I wasn't thinking, okay? I'm sorry George.-
Dream gets up and leaves George, alone and confused, staring at the frozen image of that stupid kiss between Harry and Ginny on the television.
