George most definitely didn't imagine anything, given Dream's reaction to him coming to his room the following morning.

They haven't spoken a word since yesterday night and George wasn't going to be the first one to look for confrontation so he just went to bed straight up after Dream left him on the couch. But he slept awfully, and that never happens. Something is seriously weird.
George is ready to give up some of his dignity and be the first one to approach the other for the sake of his well-being, that's how much he cares about his own sleep quality.

So, at 9 a.m., he knocks gently on Dream's bedroom door, aware that he could very possibly still be asleep. And that would be fine, even better, honestly. That would mean that George did try to make things right but the universe was just adverse, and there's nothing he can do about that. But obviously Dream is awake and lets out a sleepy "come in" before George enters the room and closes the door behind.
This is the moment he realises Dream is not wearing a shirt, or better, he remembers, because he already knew this but just completely forgot.
Great, now it looks like he wanted to peek at him. This is going so badly.
-Uhm, listen, if you were still sleeping I can come back la- but Dream immediately stops him.
-It's fine, George. How'd you sleep?-
George makes himself comfortable on the edge of Dream's bed while he puts on a shirt and sits, still under the blankets. They both just can't feel uneasy when they're around each other, and that's what he loves the most about their friendship.
-Honestly, not that good. Yesterday was weird and you just left and I didn't know what to do.-
-I know... it's just, we were kidding, as always, and then... we were not? Like all of a sudden and I wasn't expecting it.-
-It didn't look like you were that surprised to me, honestly. Like your reaction was pretty quick.-
-I know, I'm so ashamed, George. And sorry, I'm sorry. I know this is a joke to you and it was just banter. I know you did this with Karl too and I know you see it as a game, I just didn't expect myself to get so involved. I'm sorry.-
What? Actually what? Dream thinks he's done this with Karl? Does he think he's some kind of slut? One thing is a smooch, another fully making out and grinding on each other. George needs a second to calm down, otherwise he's gonna scream, and thank God he waits, able to hear what Dream is about to say next.
-It's not like we like each other like that anyway, I was also playing, it was just kinda good and I was surprised, that's it. Sorry for running away.-
Oh. Okay. George is not surprised, he just didn't consider it that way. Now that he's actually racionating, he didn't really think about it at all.
He was too busy being angry at Dream for leaving him so suddenly and with no explanation rather than thinking about the fact that him and Dream undeniably made out. And they both liked it way more than expected. And it is true, George wasn't planning on doing it and he wasn't dying either to kiss him before; he was, in fact, just playing. And he knew Dream was playing too. He decides he's not gonna correct Dream, because if he doesn't want to admit shit, he's for sure not gonna be the first one to open up about what he's actually feeling.
-Yeah, exactly. It was all games and then I thought you got offended or something. I was worried you were hurt but turns out you just got incredibly horny.-
Dream chuckles softly at that.
-Hey, that's unfair, you were on top of me.- George shivers at the memory but giggles lightly to cover it.
-You were the one trying to give me a hickey!-
-And you moaned.- George rolls his eyes.
-Whatever, are we having breakfast, idiot?-
-Yes, give me a couple minutes to get fully dressed.-
And they both leave the room after a while, laughing fondly, talking and looking at each other's features when the other is distracted for a second too long for it to be purely platonic. But they're not gonna talk about that, or the new emotions they feel emerging now when staring at each other's lips.

-So, Sapnap's coming back in five days and New Year's is in two. What d'you wanna do? Should we invite some people?- Dream says this while chugging the ice at the bottom of his glass of water, and George, while amused, can't help but feel a little disgusted.
-Oh my God, Dream, stop that, I can actually see your saliva drooling.-
-Well, I reckon we did ascertain you don't really mind, didn't we idiot.-
This is a harmless joke and it for sure isn't the first time they say this kind of stuff to each other, but since Dream actually knows how much George enjoys it, it just feels different. They haven't openly talked about the kiss since that morning in Dream's room a couple days ago, but now, when they're about to joke about kissing as they would usually do, they both have to stop before saying something actually awkward.
Because now they have kissed and, even if they are never gonna admit it, they both loved it.
-Whatever, I think we could invite Sylvee, Foolish and uhm... Punz?-
-Alright, Sylvee will probably come with her friend, Felice.-
Now, who the hell is Felice? George is sure he should know this and that Sylvee told him about her, but he just can't recall exactly who she is.
-Am I supposed to know who she is?-
-George, oh my God, you're actually such a bad friend, it's the girl that keeps talking about becoming a streamer, Sylvee even showed us some pictures!-
George misses a beat. Oh, he remembers now. Of course, fucking Felice.
-You mean the girl that's literally obsessed and won't shut up about you and how hot you are? Yeah no, on my dead body.-
-George what the heck? She seems nice.-
-Of course she'll be so nice to you, she just wants you for attention online! Come on Clay, don't be dumb.- Okay, this isn't the truth or even remotely what George is actually thinking. He's seen the girl and there's no way he's allowing her in their house, or anywhere around Dream, for that aspect. But he's not even ready to admit that to himself, let alone his friend.
-Oh, 'cause it's so weird that someone would like me for me?- Dream sounds hurt and George doesn't know how to fix this without making it even worse.
-That's not what I meant and you know it! She doesn't know you, how would she actually like you?-
-I'm giving her a chance to, it's not like I have any game right now, and she looks good. Listen, I don't care, she's coming, okay?-
George can't do anything but nod silently.

The rest of the day is relatively calm and George and Dream don't really argue anymore, but this situation isn't ideal at all and George doesn't know to exit it. One thing, however, is sure; Felice is definitely not going to get to know Dream better, and George is making sure of that.

alright! what I have in mind for the story and hope to portray exactly is the weird situation between them in which they're close friends and don't wanna ruin the relationship; they sometimes make jokes and think about each other differently, but never really process what that means or admit what they're feeling. in this specific case I wanted it to feel like they didn't even think their feelings were real until they kissed and something in them awoke and they don't know how to handle it at all.
also, seen both Dream and George's jealousy irl I think while Dream's is blatant and funny, George's is way more subtle and I think more interesting to observe, especially for a written story.
dw, we'll also have jealous Dream at some point ;) but I want George to realise he's feeling like this first, and them denying each other's feelings until they just can't take it anymore.
hope it will turn out as wanted! hope u enjoyed it little muffins🧁🧁🧁
