Thomas

1. What does your main character want more than anything in the world?

As the male heroine of the Clone High Next Generation series, there are a lot of eyes resting on Thomas. He is the clone of the 28th president of the United States trying to fit into a group of kids who have moved on from the cloning process while keeping some of the past. He wants to be the Clone King and become a main player in Clone High and international politics. This means he has a huge desire for something big. Thomas wants more than anything in the world to earn Cammy's hand in marriage, be respected by his peers and become the successor to the Clone King JFK.

To start Thomas wants Cammy's hand in marriage. Ever since he was young, he always gravitated towards Cammy for being interested in history like him, unlike the rest of his peers. Growing up, Thomas was bullied for being a nerd but Cammy would always seek him out for knowledge and learning more about the history of Clone High and its people with him. This made him love Cammy for sharing a natural interest unlike the rest of his peers. Next up, Cammy was funny and beautiful and Thomas liked that. Her humor always dragged him out of his sad moments and made him feel better about himself. Also, Thomas liked Cammy's beauty for obvious reasons, being a young boy who is still going through puberty. Use your imagination, he's being sussy.

Next, Thomas wants to be respected by his peers. In high school, he is constantly made fun of and bullied by Jame. He actually looks up to Jame's fame like Deku to Bakugo and wants to be friends again with him. He wants to become as strong as Jame so he can be respected by his peers. Next, he is always viewed as the odd one out by his peers because he was the last to move into the neighborhood when they were young so he is viewed as an outcast. He wants to be respected more by his peers so he constantly accepts Jame's challenges because of that and because he has respect for Jame as stated earlier.

Lastly, Thomas wants to be the successor to the Clone King JFK. Growing up, Thomas was always enamored by JFK's success and spectacle as the Clone King. As a growing Clone, Thomas wanted to emulate that believing he would also have the same amount of success as JFK in school and beyond if he tried to be like him. Thomas also knew that growing up that Clones were being less respected now since there were so many. He believed by becoming Clone King that they would respect him and he wouldn't be mistreated like the rest in the reports.

Overall, the things that Thomas wants compared to everything else in the world is rather selfish but that is to be expected. He is a young teenage boy in his first year of high school, of course he is self-centered like the rest. This makes it significant because his self-centered ego will have to contend with the other egos at the school as well as the opposing adults and children that wish to mess up his plans. This leaves many unanswered questions and makes me wonder if he will change or give up on some of these goals as it continues. Overall, an interesting character and I hope to see more and write more about him as it continues.

2. What do they need to grow as a person (not necessarily the same thing as what they want)?

We know now what Thomas wants and soon his major flaws (internal problems) and obstacles (external problems). These issues affect not only him but his peers as well. They also resemble the past as well with the multiple needs of the 28th that never came to pass. Thomas has a chance to make things right however, with a few simple steps. Thomas needs to overcome self-doubt, come to terms with the past and make an alliance with his haters in order to grow as a person.

To start, Thomas needs to overcome his self-doubt. This self-doubt prevents him from doing what he really wants like asking out Cammy. It also prevents him from being on it, which he needs if he wants to become Clone King. Also, this self-doubt prevents him from being able to protect his friends due to hesitation. He can't hesitate, or his friends would be hurt and they would lose respect for him. Something could also happen to Cammy and Thomas wouldn't want that because of his love for her.
