Lavender
1. What does your main character want more than anything in the world?
Lavender wants simple things in her life more than anything in the world. She has not the perfect home life at the moment but wants to improve. In her life it's been tough and she wants to improve. It's pretty loud where i'm writing right now, not going to lie so i'm just doing this for the word count. Lavender wants to have a better relationship with her father and be able to be herself for once. This is important for her because it will allow her to be at peace and be a better person overall. I'm also interested in the future scene of Scudworth and Lavender's dad at the restaurant watching Clove and Lavender's date in the future so I will write that out too.
To start, Lavender wants to have a better relationship with her father. Starting out, her past is rough because she is a mistake brought on by an earlier mistake. The mistake of the miscarriage of her two older brothers troubles her deeply as she feels personally responsible for this and it is reflected in her old pictures. It shows her wearing clothes that weren't meant for her and she feels some guilt that it shouldn't be for her. Next, this has caused a bad relationship for her father because her dad has distanced himself from her her entire life which has caused a bad relationship. She wants to have a better relationship with her father in order to make up for her past and wants them to be normal again.
I'm finally at home where it isn't loud apart from this Project Sekai song in the background so I will write to fill the word count today and also to distract myself from what happened at school today lmao. Next, Lavender wants to be herself for once. At school, she plays the role of a tough girl, which don't get me wrong she is tough naturally but that isn't her 24/7. We all have to relax at some point right? She wants to be herself because having to play this role 24/7 has taken a mental toll on her and makes her want to give up and disappear. Also, she feels restrained by playing this tough girl role because she always has to act tough which prevents her from making friends and being happy. In her mind, if she can be herself she will have more opportunities that she will enjoy. Overall, it is a major goal she is pushing for throughout the series.
To conclude, I still feel embarrassed about earlier but I'm still writing now, so that's a plus. So yeah, Lavender's on the road to self-improvement. But that leads me to an important question for not just Lavender but for the rest of the characters? If all their goals are on self-improvement are they really a team? Or is it just a group of broken teens by the world and themselves fighting together who are just calling themselves a team to save face? Just something that came to me that I wanted to bring up, I guess. It's all a game to you, isn't it reader? Anyways, I just wanted to bring that up. So I'll be excited for this story and the future, I guess.
2. What do they need to grow as a person (not necessarily the same thing as what they want)?
Lavender needs to grow as a person by being more open to people. This applies to both her situation with her father and her struggle to be herself. As we know she is close to many people because of her violent behavior and because of that she feels miserable because she can't achieve her goals. I feel bored right now, I have no motivation for this at the moment but I'm still going. You better be still here too, reader, braving it out with me. I want to order some books to analyze. Anyways, Lavender needs this because it will help her life become better and that's what you want for all the characters, right reader? WINK
Lavender needs to be more open to people and it will improve her relationship with her father. Her father is rarely around because of his work. Lavender knows when he is available to be called and has his number. But instead of proper calls, she prefers to either text if needed or not talk to him at all. This is bad because it removes quality time from talking to each other. If it was just a simple, Hi I love you dad that would still be better than nothing. Texts aren't really that motivational emotionally so they wouldn't work. If she calls, it will remove her relationship with her father which brings me to the next point. When her father is home, he mainly holds himself up in his study. Lavender always makes moves to avoid him when this happens and has someone else bring him things if necessary. But if she needs to bring him stuff she just knocks and leaves it there then leaves herself. If she made moves to do simple things with him like helping him in the yard or just asking him if he was alright at his study she would be able to have a stronger bond with her father. Overall, she needs to open the door in her repressed mind and hang out with her father.
Good morning I'm here to conclude this after playing so much Pokemon Scarlet today. It's full of twists and turns since its open world. Anyways yeah, Lavender needs to move forward and get these things to move forward. I don't know what to say next because writing these essays makes me cringe about the one I wrote this week in ELA. Its so bad. I'm going to tank. Anyways I hope you have a good break right now reader. How should I continue? I can't wait to write these characters in more detail because Lavender is an interesting character to me and I want to continue with this plot points.
3. What major flaws (internal problems) and obstacles (external problems) will stand in their way?
Lastly, the Russians stand in her way. The first piece of evidence is they hate her because she is a student of the school. So they continue to disrupt her learning time and cause her grief. So this prevents her from focusing on her goals because she has to deal with them. The second piece of evidence is they have influenced Clove, who is connected to her love interest Thomas. This leads to Cammy being kidnapped and having to endure stress and fear to defend Thomas from pain. Overall, the Russians cause a ton of pain for her being the lone child of JFK and having issues and pain which sucks for her. It's a bad situation overall.
To conclude, Thomas has a bunch of issues at the moment. Which is expected because he is an average high school student. He is affected by self-doubt and a lack of self which makes sense, he is in high school still learning about himself, the real world and who he wants to be. Also, he is affected by his peers and the school at home which makes sense because he is a regular high school student who has to deal with the best and worst of the school system. Lastly, abroad he is affected by the Russians. Which is expected because foreign policy affects everyone at home and causes new laws and defense to be put in place. Overall, these issues all play into Thomas' position and life as a whole throughout the series.
Sure, Thomas is the male heroine of the show but it doesn't mean he's free without issue. The original Thomas wasn't without flaws himself and he's trying to pull some of his traits for use so he may encounter some problems along the way. The outside problems are there too with him being a nerd and the punching bag of the school as well as the looming Russian threat. Also the fact that the shadowy figures are a thing and also paper hat man Scudworth too. The major flaws (internal problems) that stand in his way are his self-doubt and his sense of self. The obstacles (external problems) that stand in his way are his peers plus the school and the Russians.
Next, his sense of self stands in his way. Throughout the series, Thomas doesn't know who he is and who he is supposed to be. As a clone he feels as if his life has been already decided by fate and that he can't choose in the end and is destined to end up in the gutter. He also doesn't know who hes supposed to be either because of this and it negatively affects his life. At meetings he feels down and tries to do his best but people are always holding his past against him. Also, he tries to stand out but laments to his Clone father that all they see in him is you and what is he supposed to do in that moment. Overall, he is still searching for his true and authentic self but at what cost.
Next, the school stands in her way. The school expects her to not think for herself first but others first. This is bad for Cammy because she isn't able to pursue her true goals because she is forced into a box by the school. If she is freed, her goals would come immediately or more quicker depending on the goal in question. Also, the school stands in her way because of the students. They all expect her to get with Jame instead of Thomas and to bully her best friend. She doesn't want to do that so has to constantly dodge people's requests. If she didn't have to do that she'd be able to live a little and be with Thomas, the man she loves.
