Selena leads them into the drawing room next to her brother’s office. It was where the elders met to discuss important events in the pack over tea and biscuits. As the young Luna before, she was privy to their discussions and thoroughly enjoyed them. Mostly because the elders were nice to her and genuinely listened to her suggestions.

“I’m still not sure about this. The inauguration was for marketing and relations. I doubt the elders would pass on that opportunity. It is all just business for them, after all.” Lively murmured.

“Don’t worry.” Selena looked over her shoulder. “I’ll handle this.”

Selena caught a glimpse of the hurt in Kayla’s wandering vision. Her green gaze cast down her feet as she tailed Lively.

It seemed like the wolf was shaken from what had happened before. If she were in her shoes, she too might be might still be shivering.

Good.

Maybe after all that, she would think twice about doing something foolish… or selfish.

The drawing room came into her eyes. The smell of wolves bombarding her nose and their low, silent voices echoed in her ears.

As she came closer, the whispers of their voices came to a complete pause. But she didn’t let that deter her. She continued and pushed through the massive twin doors, revealing herself to the elders.

Their faces and gasps said it all.

None of them expected to smell and see Kayla Marie’s face covered in blood.

“Good day, everyone.” She greets them warmly, hoping to defuse the befuddlement on their faces.

The elders, all ten of them, stood and lowered their heads in respect of her presence. She lowered her head in response, gazing at all of them one by one. Though every wolf in the room was familiar to her, one wolf caught her attention… Mr. Rosewood.

He wasn’t a part of the elders before and so seeing him there shook her.

“Luna.” The wolves greeted in unison.

Being called the Luna always ruffled her feather, but for her pack’s elders, she made an exception. Her smile grew a little wider and her wolf melted.

“I-I am… I’m sorry, but I’d like to talk business with all of you.”

Mitch Rosewood, the wolf that took in Sebastian and Francis, smiled at her softly.

“My, my. Bold enough to discuss business, I see.” He said.

She nods.

“Well,” she gulped, turning to Kayla and Lively behind her. “In light of very significant circumstances, I believe my words hold value.”

“Ah…” Elder Josephine drawls, her eyes darting toward Kayla’s face and Selena’s bleeding hand. “By the looks of it, it’s about the inauguration planned for tonight.”

“Yes.” She answered.

“Seems as if you’ve given your blessing.” Another elder chimed in, elder Yates.

“Willingly, I hope. Especially because we weren’t there to witness the deed itself.” Elder Boyle added.

The pressure hounding her from their observing eyes struck her chest, pulling her feet down.

The elders weren’t judging her.

It was the opposite.

Selena had always been the young pup tailing her brother everywhere. This was her first time speaking to them directly without Talon and to top it all off, she wanted to discuss something very important regarding the pack’s future.
