I watch the old cedar tree sway in the wind, my face void of emotion.
Why, why, why?!I watch as the frogs croak and jump around the dirty pond, or the bright green lily pads.
It wasn't supposed to be you, so why?
My gaze lands on the beautiful wildflowers littering the lush green grass of this breathtaking location. A place he showed me.
So then why did he save me? Why did he save me, but not himself?
I study the surface of the muddy water, seeing his hazel eyes stare back at me, clear as day.I survey my trembling arms, still feeling the strong pull of his, as he pulled me out of the depths.
I pull out my new phone, reading his last messages he sent to me over and over again.
"It's going to be okay, I'm sorry for saying all those things to you, I'm coming, please don't do anything stupid." 8:04PM"The truth is I love you, and I'm sorry I pushed you away, I didn't know how to deal with my feelings, and I thought you'd be disgusted by me, that you would want nothing to do with me if you found out, so I pushed you away, but I love you, please call me, tell me you're okay." 8:07PM
"I'm coming to the bridge you mentioned, please don't jump, message me or call me, let's talk this out, we can figure it out together, you'll be okay, I promise." 8:10PM
"I love you." 8:11PMTears land on my phone, like they had after our very last call.
Why did you give me such a cruel life without you in it?
"I'll have to remember you.. For longer than I have known you."
If only I had known you'd jump in after me and save me, drowning yourself in the process...
