The morning soon rose, and Jessica never slept. Soon after Rhaenyra killed the boar, Jessica led her back to the creek and wiped her bloody face off. They stayed there until the sun rose. The girls rode onto a hill, and Rhaenyra sat on her horse, taking in the fresh air.

A snap of a branch catches their attention, and below her, Jessica looks over, noticing a white hart. Preparing for it to attack, her hand falls to her hilt. "No," Rhaenyra whispers, watching the stag before it runs off.

Jessica watches it run off before looking over at the princess in confusion.

When they returned to the camp, Jessica called several servants over. "Can you wrap the boar up and take it to the feast?" Rhaenrya walks in front of the crowd, earning looks of disgust and disappointment from most of her fellow nobles.

"Where were you?" A voice calls, and she straightens as she faces the Lord Commander. "I left to watch over the princess. She became overwhelmed. I could not leave her to be alone." She explains, making the man nod. "Good. Many of the men talk of you with disdain, but cannot do their job half as well." The man pats her shoulder and walks away quietly.

Jessica looks around, noticing stares from other Kingsgaurd, and follows after Rhaenyra as she walks to a private tent. "Quite a display." She says, startling the princess. Rhaenyra looks around and smiles when she sees Jessica.

"Did you see the looks on their faces?" The redhead chuckles and nods. "Priceless." A silence falls between them and Rhaenyra steps forward, grabbing Jessica's hand. "Thank you for being there."

"Of course. Ser Harrold would've killed me if I had stayed." Rhaenyra scoffs and turns around as she begins to take off her clothes.

Soon, the tents are packed and nobles begin to move back toward their homes. The royal family trekked back to King's Landing.

For the next few days, when Jessica wasn't picking up after the other guards, she was training with Criston.

They stood in the courtyard at midday, and the girl took in a deep breath and swung. Her sword collides with Criston's shield, making a loud sound within the courtyard. He pushes her sword away, and they continue fighting.

He begins to swing the spiked ball of his morningstar, but she dodges every attack that's thrown at her. He goes right with the morningstar, and Jessica flanks left before placing her sword on his neck. "Dead." Criston chuckles and holds his hands up in surrender.

"I yield." He says, and Jessica hums in satisfaction. "Ser Criston, Ser Jessica." A shrill voice calls out, and the knights turn toward the princess and bow. "Your Grace." Rhaenyra smiles at them and looks at their sweaty faces.

"Was I interrupting something?" She asks, and Jessica immediately shakes her head. "Of course not, Your Grace."

"Well, if you wouldn't mind, Ser Criston, I would like to borrow Jessica for a second." Criston silently nods and gathers items from the ground before giving them space. "I have news." Jessica looks down at the princess with curious eyes.

"My father has granted me the pleasure of choosing my husband. Lord Boremund Baratheon is hosting me as suitors come."

"And this is something you want?" Rhaenyra shakes her head no. "Maybe if I call upon the Byrnes and marry Dorian, I will have you by default." She suggests, but Jessica shakes her head. "He's too young. Plus, my mother would not let him marry anyone that isn't Dornish." The princess fakes a pout. "How sad. To Storm's End, it is then."

"Have you ever been to the Stormlands?" The blonde shakes her head. "Have you?" Jessica repeats her action.

"Well, we'll be exploring something new then."

"We?"

"You're my sworn sword, you'll be coming with me of course." Jessica nods curtly. "Of course. When do we leave?" Rhaenyra smiles. "Within a fortnight." She answers and Jessica nods.

"Of course."

"Stop saying that."

"Sorry."

ONE MOON LATER

Rhaenyra decided to leave Syrax in the pit, opting to enjoy this time on a boat alone with Jessica.

They were never truly alone, not if the older woman had anything to say, but Rhaenyra tried her luck. Now, they were sat with Lord Boremund and his son, Borros.

"I am hopeful that you have a satisfying time making your decision, and I am thankful you chose Storms End to do so, Princess. I hope it is to your liking." The Lord says, his son watching beside him.

"Thank you, Lord Boremund." She says and the man sighs. "If you want, I can show you to your chambers." Rhaenyra nods, and they take off as Jessica trails behind them.

"I never knew women could be Kingsguard." Borros speaks up, making Jessica look at him. "Who did you fuck to get in there?" He asks with a chuckle and Jessica looks over at him in shock.

"I- The princess and King chose me specifically. I bedded no one, my Lord." He let's out a laugh and pats her on the shoulder. "I was only jesting. You seem like a capable warrior." Jessica nods and continues to follow.

Later on, Jessica finds herself outside of Rhaenyra's room keeping guard.

Rhaenyra stood on the other side, contemplating whether to ask Jessica to sleep in her room. She wondered how it would look to the Baratheons and if it would be suspicious.

So she softly knocks on the door, and Jessica frowns before the same pattern comes from the princess' chambers yet again. The door clicks and Jessica turns to it as Rhaenyra pokes her head out.

"Are you alright, Princess?" She asks and Rhaenyra smiles, shaking her head no. "I would feel much better if my sworn sword were to come into my room and relax."

"But that is not-"

"I demand it."

Jessica sighs and nods as she ducks her head. "As you as wish, Your Grace." Rhaenyra smirks, opening the door further to let Jessica in.

She walks in a bit further, and turns around to intercept a kiss from the Princess, who is standing on her toes. Rhaenyra's feet fall flat and she looks up at her knight.

Jessica's eyes are searching for an answer as she examines the princess's face. "Why did you bring me here?"

"I needed company."

"Is that all? It seems as though you have brought me for other reasons-"

"We're alone now. No eyes of court. I can have you." Jessica scoffs as her eyes open. "Is that all I'm useful for? Being yours?"

"I thought you loved being mine."

"We've never touched one another."

"Let us change that."
