I eventually reached my dorm and collapsed on the bed of the eerily abandoned room.  

A tapping sound distracted me from looking out the window and I turned my head towards the direction it was coming from. From a dark corner of my room a sleek black raven appeared.

"Achlys," I cried. I hadn't seen the foolish bird in weeks and I was beginning to grow lonely without her. "Where on earth have you been." Achlys tilted her head and cawed in annoyance at me. She often likes to remind me that she will reveal things in her own time. She waddles over to me and perches in my lap. Petting her sleek body seems to calm my nerves and I gently place her on the bed and begin to unpack.

Suddenly a quiet voice creeps up behind me. "Nice raven."

Wednesday fucking Addams somehow managed to find her away into my room and I am deeply impressed that she managed to shake off Enid Sinclair in such a short amount of time.

I roll my eyes and my fingers itch to curl up and do their thing. The urge to become a "human lighter" as Xavier once called it is driving me insane. Well more insane than usual.

I notice how pretty she is and I feel a pang of jealousy, but the feeling is gone as soon as it came. "She won't hesitate to gouge your eyes out."

Wednesday studies my pet before nodding to herself, no doubt thinking how to either avoid or eliminate Achlys. The stupid girl doesn't know how smart the bird actually is.

I understand that my growing hatred for her isn't fair but I've never been one to care about others feelings.

 Bianca will either hate her with me or announce me even more insane this school year. Having Nevermore's queen bee as one of your closest friends is not my normal scene but you can't help who you grow attached to. Coming from someone who's has to learn the hard way. 

She nods and addresses me one last time before she leaves. "I'll see you soon. We're more alike than we both would admit. À la folie," and with that she's gone.

"To insanity," I repeat as the door thuds shut. Achlys looks at me with those curiously dangerous little eyes.
