I drop my shotgun that's out of ammo and grab for my handgun that's strapped to my thigh. Kenji joins us now, seemingly figuring out what to do with the children he found. Though there are bodies strewn throughout the sanctuary floor, there are still at least fifteen crusaders left. The last of the civilians have left the church, and Ayesha comes in guns blazing. She must have made sure that everyone is out. I duck behind the pew I've chosen as shelter and reload. Despite how well this has gone up till this point, we're outnumbered. I'm running out of ammo, and I know my friends must be too. I take comfort in the fact that Tal is safe on the steeple. I pop out from my spot and manage a good shot into a zealot. That's when I hear the first scream. I don't know who it was, but I hear a body slam onto the ground.
"Cover me!" I yell at no one in particular. I compromise my position and run to where I heard the slam.
