6 months in

it was 6 months in the school year now and i had still made 0 friends, people disliked me because of the way i looked which i just couldn't wrap my head around. i was sat in the library at lunch minding my own business as usual, i was doing homework or some sort of revision. i liked it in the library because it was the only place where people wouldn't give me dirty looks for reading. and it was a place where clay and his friends stayed out off.

the table i sat at had 6 seats, i sat there everyday by myself since the start of the year and no one had ever sat on it before. so it took me by surprise when a boy took a seat next to me. he took the seat next to me and coughed, i looked up instantly furrowing my non-existent brows at him, he had dark hair which was covered by a beanie. he was slim and had clear skin with a mole or two dotted on, he had darker eyes and bushy eyebrows that somehow fitted with his other facial parts. i know i said no boys but he was really cute, and besides in haven't made any friends yet so it wouldn't hurt to see what he wanted.

"umm, can i help you?" i asked him, trying to sound more nice than confused, "your aspen right" he smiled at me, he knew my name? "yeah, i am" i smiled back, i felt a sort of excitement as i wasn't aware that anyone knew my name, especially not a super cute boy. "i saw you around school, your really pretty" he started, causing my cheeks to redden up. no one had ever said anything like that to me before. "would you like to go on a date with me?"  he asks, i was speechless, i didn't know what to say. "i- uh yeah!" i had a big smile on my face that wouldn't disappear. "okay! perfect! you free tomorrow after school?" he questioned with a comfortable smile on his face, to which i just nodded back as i had no clue what to say. "i'm alex by the way" he grinned, as he got up and walked away leaving me in awe.

what the fuck just happened?

the next day i rushed home and changed my outfit, into a black skirt that fell down to my knees and an white over sized jumper. i still couldn't believe what was happening, the moment kept replaying in me head. so much that i didn't realise the connection with the name alex. i took my hair down from the braids and brushed the blonde curls out into waves. i put on some carmex lip balm on my lips and some sort of perfume around my body and left my house in a hurry. we had planned to meet at a nearby Starbucks, it was a 10 minute walk from my house so i popped in my head phones, put on some tunes and walked there fast.

i saw alex stood outside the coffee shop on the phone, i was getting closer when he looked and made eye contact with me making me blush. he quickly said his last words and ended the phone, we said our introductions which were a little bit awkward at first but it got more comfortable. we ordered the coffee and talked about our interests, we got along really well. he suggested we go to the nearby park and i agreed so we walked a two minute walk and sat on the bench.

and then i saw them. clay, george, nick and what i believed to be karl trailing behind.

"i've got to go" i tell alex making sure i have all my things but it was too late, they were already here. i should've known, alex immediately stood up and took his place next to karl who was the only one who did have a smirk on their face. "you thought i would really go out with someone like you?' alex sniggered, so much for being the nicer one. i stood there embarrassed, my eyes started to tear up. "keep dreaming loser!" nick shouted in my face, they all started laughing. "even george wouldn't get with you and thats saying something" clay grinned, "oh shut up" george rolled his eyes, "he's not wrong though, i wouldn't get with you just like the rest of us." he carried on.

i swallowed hard as a salty tear ran down my face i barged past them all and stormed of home, i heard laughter in the back. i was so upset and embarrassed too. there was no way i was going back to school.

and from that day, it was home schooled.
