The Walters are a lively Italian family whose household revolves around family and cooking. Often Kora's grandparents, cousins, uncles and aunts, and family friends are staying at their house. Laughter and commotion isn't uncommon in the mornings and late evenings. Kora's mom owns, and also works at the bakery downtown, and her dad is a veterinarian. Her mom's side of the family specializes in all types of sweet treat baking -- from beautifully decorated cakes and pastries to apple pies and various sugar cookies. On the other hand, her dad's side is full of fancy chefs. Their signature meals range from juicy pizzas to seasoned pastas, or fresh mashed potatoes. Kora is always full from eating way, way too much.
As Kora sat in bed she tried to order her thoughts. As much as she loved being organized, her head was always pure chaos. She scanned the area of her room. Her desk was nice and neat, her clothes were set out, and everything was in its proper place. She saw something move in a blur in the corner of her eye, but she shrugged it off. The two biggest things she thought about currently were tomorrow, the annual Italian Festival began, and which food she would bring. It was a tradition for every girl in the family to go the festival and bring one dish of an original food once they turned 12, and it was now Kora's turn. She pondered what she might make. A cake perhaps, but that would take a least four hours. Maybe a new type of soup, but it'd require a lot of ingredients which they didn't have. Or possibly a grand pizza with toppings in every color, except there wasn't blue and pink toppings. Kora rolled over and laid on her stomach as she sighed to herself.
"Why is picking a food so hardddd?" she groaned.
She mumbled to herself at least a hundred other dishes and pictured a table filled with food from all over the country. Her mouth watered at the ideas. After tossing and turning for half an hour, she eventually drifted into a light sleep, and all her thoughts of food disappeared for the night.
