Aomine, being the speed demon that he is, made it to the garage first. Thoma trailed right behind him, slowing down every now and then to go at my pace. These guys were seriously inhuman.
Without waiting, Aomine opened the wooden double door that led to where Santa kept his magical sleigh. I followed Thoma and Aomine into the garage like room to find it void- actually void this time- of any other person.
"Maybe its some kind of Christmas escape room?" I suggested.
"Yeah, we should look for clues." Thoma suggested.
I nodded and began to search the room, feeling excited to be next to such a legendary vehicle. Thoma searched various shelves around the room while Aomine examined different toolboxes. I approached the sleigh, amazed by how similar it looked to the one in that one movie with Jack Frost. I pressed my palm against the wooden rim.
Snow whirled around me faster than I could think and louder than I could process, leaving me disoriented. I closed my eyes so that I wouldn't get dizzy. I heard Thoma call my name in what sounded to be the distance even though he was just right next to me.
When I opened my eyes again the sleigh, and the entire garage, was gone. I was in the woods.
Snow covered almost all of the forest floor and tops of every pine tree. The sun was out behind said trees and luckily for me, it hadn't been snowing. How did I get here? I found myself growing tired of asking that question. A few moments passed when I heard wind and commotion behind me. I turned around to find Thoma and then Aomine, equally disoriented.
"Woah," Thoma said, "That was certainly strange."
He looked up, spotting me, and immediately ran over giving me a hug before he remembered himself and took a step back, scratching his neck.
"You had me worried." he said.
I smiled.
Aomine put his hands in his pockets and shrugged, pretending to be uninterested in everything going on.
Putting two and two together, I proposed, "I think that sleigh was some sort of teleportation thing."
"What gave you that impression?" Aomine said, voice full of sarcasm.
I rolled my eyes and smiled, just glad to not be alone.
"So... are we supposed to find our way back to the mansion?"
"I guess so. I can't think of-"
The sound of bullets erupted all around us. Thoma practically tackled me, keeping his hand over my head for protection. Aomine's face was full of confusion and even a hint of.. fear.
I could hear a girl's laugh somewhere nearby.
The gunshots came to a stop as the girl called out.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are, Vi!"
Her voice sounded strangely familiar. Maybe I've heard it somewhere before?
I heard another woman's voice, one that sounded equally familiar, respond.
"Powder! We can talk about this!"
Thoma pointed to our left, "Look!" he said in a whisper.
I traced his gaze to a pink haired woman standing behind a tree nearby. She wore a red jacket with brown striped pants, brown boots, and a white top and bandages around her fists and arms.
"Its Jinx now!" The first girl shouted back in contempt before resuming her trigger happy nonsense. I thought for sure we were goners this time. The pink haired girl began to sprint between the trees in the opposite direction.
"We have to move!" Thoma shouted as he grabbed my hand and helped me up, chasing after the pink haired girl. Aomine was quick to follow us.
I heard the first girl, Jinx, laugh a miserable, insanity and sorrow filled laugh from behind us.
It was hard dodging the bullets but eventually we caught up to the pink haired girl, unscathed.
"Who are you guys!?" She asked while weaving around the trees, "You know what, it doesn't matter right now. Follow me if you want to live!"
We did as she said until we were in the clear. We had made it to some stables that appeared to be empty. I assumed that they were for DC's reindeer but without them here, I wasn't sure.
We all took a second to catch our breath.
"Who.. was that?" I asked in between breaths.
The pink haired girl slumped against the wall and cocked her head.
"She's my sister."
"Oh.." I glanced at the others. The silence was too loud.
