*11 months and a week after the events of this story*
"Don't forget the salt!" I shouted from the pantry as I searched for the special red and green frosting I had bought a fed days ago.
"There wasn't salt in the recipe last time?!" Thoma shouted back from the kitchen behind me.
I quickly found the frosting and made my way back to Thoma, kissing him on the cheek.
"You silly goose," I said, "There was. Just a pinch."
"Ohhhh," Thoma kissed me back.
We were determined to recreate the cookies we had baked at Santa's workshop last year since I didn't exactly get a chance to really taste them last time. I had written Mrs. Claus a letter to get the recipe but I think the letter might have gotten mixed up with all of the wishlists being sent to the north pole this time of the year. Thankfully, Sophia was able to find the recipe from what was left of her notes on our story.
"This much good?" Thoma asked as he held out his hand to reveal a smidge of salt.
"Perfect!"
We mixed in all of the needed ingredients and set the cookies into the oven to cook. It all took me back as I looked around the kitchen of our shared home. We had just finished decorating for Christmas and were so excited to go visit the workshop in a week.
"Think they'll like the cookies?" I asked.
"Of course they will!" Thoma answered, "We made them and you and I both know how amazing we are when we work together."
"You're right." I smiled.
"Oh I forgot to ask. Did you remember to get the hot chocolate for tonight?"
"Yep!"
The weather channel said a snow storm would be rolling into our area tonight and I made sure to have Thoma go to the store while I finished a commission.
"You're the best," I smiled, "This is why I love you."
Thoma laughed, "On the contrary, I think you're the best. And I'm sure thats not the only thing that makes you love me."
"Oh really?" I smirked, "and what else is there?"
Thoma smiled playfully, "I can remind you later tonight if your memory is hazy."
I leaned in, "I think I'd like that."
The oven alarm went off and Thoma grabbed the cookies with his oven mitts. We waited a bit before decorating them. Thoma still hadn't perfected his cookie decorating but I didn't mind. In fact, I think I liked the more that way.
I glanced out the window as it began to snow. I knew even if we lost power tonight, Thoma's loving arms would be enough to keep me warm.
And that was more than I could ever ask for.
