Prehaps it was fate . . .

To awaken in a land, so different, A pulsing from the ground beneath me, taunting, yet so tender.

The smell of dirt and rain,  of grass and the strange scent of wildflowers, Before I opened my eyes, I knew I didn't belong.
The sound of birds, shrilling in the distance and of insects and water. I could hear it all, from the leaves that fell to the cries of young chicks.

It was too comfortable . . .  too dreamlike.

I wavered inside, Afraid to open my eyes, Fearing that I would lose this beautiful feeling, A feeling that made me feel vulnerable, yet cradled into a soft blanket of life, I yearned to savour it.

I gave in after a second or two, After all, Every dream must come to an end, And it was time for me to return to the wretched world of the living, Where everyone around me is a miserable as the rest. As the years go by, I wonder if humans really are evolving.

Grumbling slightly, I roll onto my side, refusing to open my eyes. I use my hand to feel around the spongy damp surface that lay upon, fingers, cautiously trailing along to examine the area.

Moss . . .

I purse my lips, a smile tickling at it's corners, This dream was realistic enough for me to beam at myself in pride.

After all, an artist will always take pride in their own insanity if it brings them joy.

Hesitantly, I sit up slowly, eyes still pursed shut.

Both hands travel around me, inspecting the area. I freeze a few times as I come in contact with tree roots before trailing them over to my own body, Which felt cold, exposed and very open. Every little breeze brushing and tickling at my skin, and the slight mist in the air being felt throughout my body.

I freeze, I realize that I'm naked, and I snap my eyes open in alarm. I snap my head down to look at myself.

I was blue, a gorgeous shade of blue, Sparkling accents scattered across my body like stars.
Dark and light stripes along my skin, I was barely dressed, I had purple accents along my stripes that made them stand out further.

I knew what I was right away. I move my hand to my head in awe, eyes wide as I scan my surroundings, I pause and touch my hair, which draped loosely cascading down my shoulders.
I gulp, suppressing the excitement inside me.

"No . Fucking . Way,"

My eyes move frantically and I feel my heart pick up, The constant pulsing from the earth bellow me, giving me no solace.
I glance around me, a luminescent forest, glowing slightly, but it was clearly morning, The rays of filtering through the trees and hitting me lightly. I move to, going onto my knees and glancing over the edge of the mossy platform I sat, hesitantly going to reach my hand out to the stream of water that flowed quietly.
