The second worst place to be is school. I usually don't mind school but when there are so many people around and all that yelling and overwhelming work, it sucks.

I got stuck in classes where I hated the people in the room. I never got any classes with the few people I was friends with, and making new friends wasn't an option. I wasn't exactly an introvert, I was more shy. I would keep to myself until I was around the few people I truly cared about. I had a few different personalities.

I would keep to myself, act shy and reserved when around people I wasn't close with. When I was around my friends, I was energetic and seemed so much happier. At home I was usually quiet until I argued with my mom. When alone, I felt I could really be myself.

As Elliott roamed the halls of the school trying to get to the lunch room, she was knocked out of her thoughts when she bumped into Zenith.

"Ack, sorry"

"Nah, you're good, why are you in such a rush."

"I don't know, I was just lost in thought on my way to lunch. Where are you going? The lunchroom is that way."

"Oh, I was heading to the library to go print something, wanna come with?"

"Sure, why not"

Elliott followed behind Zenith to the library and from there, they walked to the cafeteria.

Once they walked in, the area was very crowded and loud, as usual. Zenith and Eliott looked around to find Rose waving over, motioning to come over. Elliott ran over to where she and Phoenix were sitting.

"Hey losers, how are you"

"Better before you called me a loser"

"Oh I'm sure your fine Rose"

Elliott watched her roll her eyes as a response. Rose moved over so the two could sit down.

By the end of the day, they were all exhausted. Walking outside, Elliott sat down up against the wall and pulled her phone out of her bag. She looked to see whether she would need to walk home or if her mom would be picking her up.

Mom: Today you are walking home.

Elliott: ok see you later

She put her phone away, picked up the bag sitting beside her, adjusted the straps and started on her way home. She was thankful that the weather was pretty ok today because walking home in rain or snow wouldn’t have been fun.

She walked the same route as usual which got her home ok. There was some random possible drunk guy trying to show people his notebook, which made her hurry up home. She turned the corner to her street and looked towards a gray house.

From where she was standing, you could see a random car sitting in the driveway. Crap. She ran the rest of the way home to find out who this mysterious car owner was.

Right as she walked into the house, she could hear Janet yelling as someone.

"No, I won't let you take her!"

Elliott put her stuff down on the couch and ran into the kitchen to find Janet and some man talking. Janet was standing, crying while her dad, Michael was sitting down with a calm expression on his face.

"What's going on?"

Right after that was said, both of them turned to face Elliott.

"Elliott, please sit down, we need to talk to you."

She moved to go sit down. She was sure that they could see the confused expression on her face because right after she sat down, they started talking.

"Ok, so first, I should start explaining my life because if I don't, this will be more confusing."

She nodded at Michael and he continued.

"So when I was around your age, your grandma sat me down and told me something that changed my life, and what I'm about to tell you will also change your life. I was told that I would be given a set of powers, the same set of powers your grandma, my mom gave me. At first I didn't believe her, but when she proved to me she had powers, it shocked me."

"Well, I don't even believe you"

"Fair enough, let me prove it to you"

Elliott watched him stand up and move to the middle of the room
