Knock on my front wakes me up, 5 A.M. Who is here this early? I get up and pull on my jacket and keep my knife just in case. I look in the peephole and see... Bucky? I open the door, tucking the knife in my jacket pocket.

"Hi Jam... Bucky."

"Hey, it's okay. Can I come in?" He asks

"Sure," I say moving to let him in. He looks around and inspects for a moment before turning to me, and I close the door and turn to him.
"How was your first night?" he asks
"Well, I only fell asleep a few hours ago.... Jet lag..." I lie
"Lying already, well I came by to get you. The meeting is at 7."
He says looking at me, watching my expressions carefully. I nod, trying to be careful of any hints of how I feel.
"Thanks, but it's 5 a.m. Why so early?"
"Well, I wanted to check on you. I know you probably had a rough night, but I still get them. So, coffee?"
I blink at him, slightly stunned at his immediate softness towards me.
"... Yeah let me get dressed..." I say walking to my dresser.
"I'll be outside," he says on his way out the door.

I get dressed, stunned at how warm and welcoming he is. He seems to remember me more than I thought. And shows no hostility, even after the last time I remember we had seen each other. Does he remember when we both had almost escaped? The night we thought we got away? It wracks my brain as I get on my boots, thinking there was no way he remembers. They wiped his mind if he even remembered little things. That was nothing important. I fix my hair and grab my bag and keys, locking the door and going outside. As I come out, I see Bucky on the phone.

"Yes, we are grabbing coffee. Pause Sam, we will meet you there. Sigh Okay." He hangs up the phone and looks up at me, I walk to him with my eyebrow quirked up.

"So, who is Sam?" I ask, noticing the motorcycle. "He's a work friend. He's gonna meet us there, I think you two should meet before the meeting. Ready?" He gets on the motorcycle and hands me the extra helmet.

I nod, get on, and put on the helmet. He starts the bike and makes sure I am holding on, getting us on our way to the cafe. We finally get to the cafe and park, and as we are taking our helmets off, I notice a man approaching us. I tense which Bucky notices, he quickly assures me,

"That's Sam, don't worry. He's the new Captain."

I look to Bucky then to Sam and his words finally click and my eyes widen for a moment then I nod and he nods to me. We get off the motorcycle and walk to meet Sam.

"Hey, I'm Sam. You're Elyse?" He extends his hand out and I shake it.

"Hi Sam, yes Elyse. Nice to meet you."

"Well, I'm paying for coffee, I'd like to hear your story." Sam gives me a soft smile, and I nod as our hands drop.
